This is NOT a thread on which truck is better, PLEASE don't start down that path...:)

I wanted to get this groups opinion on this new tech from Ford (currently only in F-150). This built in inverter option can reach over 7kw of usable power. Here is one of the video's I watched last night....at first glance, this could be a game changer for a lot of RVer's.

I too have been reading some cool stories about it. It will be cool if/when you can order this in the SuperDuty trucks vs. just the F-150.

We really could have used that in Texas last month. Our super Duty has a 400 watt receptacle that wouldn't make up for the power grid.

I'm assuming that it's an additional option on the F150. As someone else posted in another forum, that's one heck of an expensive generator attached to that inverter! ;)

Keep in mind this is on a hybrid where there's a pretty good sized battery to augment the drive system. On a Prius, when stationary, the gas engine is turned off and probably so on the F150 as well. So for the generator to work, it probably has to use the gas engine in a non-drive mode. The generator probably keeps the big drive battery charged and the drive battery probably supplies power for the tools.
