Location of Gray #2 Tank on 2010 Landmark Augusta

Hi guys,

Anyone with a 2010 Augusta know the location of the gray #2 tank. I'm trying to help a visitor here who's got some serious freezing.

His dealer has told him the tank is all the way in back above the spare tire, but the gate valve is close to the gray #1 and black gate valves. The fresh tank drain is several feet forward of the front axle, much further forward than any I've seen before. So the gray #2 may be in the back.

The kitchen has a mid-ships island, so I can't imagine why the gray #2 tank would be further back.

Anyone been into the underbelly and know for sure? It's a 2010 Augusta built 1/28/2010.

We had the same problem a couple of years ago. Yes, the grey tank #2 is located close to the spare tire. You have to drop the spare tire and carrier then start pulling down the coroplast. Unfortunately you will find that the drain runs uphill to get to the dump valve in front of the front axle. We did the best we could to create a better drop condition but now when I winterize I use more antifreeze for that tank to make sure I get some into that line. What is really baffling is the tank exits towards the doorside of the unit so you have to make a 180 degree turn to start back towards the dump valve. I had a lot of words while doing this repair. Sorry for your luck. Good luck anyway.

Thanks Mark. Especially the part about the tank drain being closer to the doorside. He's going to build a heated enclosure under the rig to thaw it out and keep it from re-freezing. Sounds like it'll have to be wider than usual.

Wondering if the gray 2 was placed so far back to better balance the loading? If the gate valve for that tank is in fact many, many feet forward of the tank, wondering if a heat tape along the length of that tank drain from the tank to the valve, might be warranted in order to ensure freezing weather camping?

I agree.

I should clarify something. Dan asked about a 2010 model and we have a 2009 model. I am making the assumption that they were manufactured the same. There is always a chance they made a running changed regarding the placement of the grey tank #2. As far as ours I believe the placement was due to the drain placement of the kitchen sink in the pennisula and the vent placement for the tank.

Or a new gate valve located at the tank.

If the Studor valve is any indication of the tank's location, then it is under the kitchen counter section that projects from the wall next to the stove. That would place it pretty much above the spare tire carrier and rear axle. Since it serves only the kitchen sink, it would be the logical spot to place it. Gray #1 is directly below the black tank behind the basement wall. Augusta's were the Landmark version of the BH3670 in many respects.
