No hot water & thermostat issues - help & advice needed please

We are UK owners of a 2011 Elkridge Express E26 and need your help!

When we last used our unit all was fine but we recently moved back in and found the hot water was cold, we turned the gas/electric off and on and tried to re-ignite but no joy.

The only thing we did recently was to change the battery a couple of months ago.

The other issue we have is that when we turned the thermostat to furnace (for under-floor heating) the air-con also kicked in at the same time - does the thermostat need re-setting after changing the battery?

As we are in the UK its difficult to know which professionals to contact for advice as fifth wheels are hardly common place here! :)

Any help appreciated.

Thanks from Ged & Julie

Hi UKBunnies,

The thermostat FAN mode needs to be changed to AUTO. Cycle the mode to FAN and press the + or - button to change the mode.

The water heater should operate either on electric, or on propane, or on both. If neither mode is working you could have more than one problem.

The first thing I would suggest checking is the battery voltage (since you changed the battery). When installing a battery, it's possible to trip the 12V mini-circuit breaker that's between the Power Converter and the battery, or sometimes to blow a fuse on the Power Converter. We have a 12V Block Diagram and Diagnostic Guide that will help you check this out.

We also have a Water Heater Troubleshooting Guide that is based on the Suburban Water Heater. Most of the information also applies to the Atwood Water Heater, but there are some differences.

And there's a Water Heater Usage Guide that may be helpful.

If you have an Atwood unit, I think the control board on the water heater may be involved in both Electric and Propane modes, so that would be a potential point of failure when neither mode works.

As you explore the problem, you may have more questions and we may just be able to help guide you to a solution. So please let us know what you find.

Hi Dan & Ann

Many thanks for your swift reply and what we hope will be the start of a solution for our problems.
We will try your suggestions over the next few days and may return with further questions.
Good night from the UK.
