From what I have read, unless you are an electrician it isnt a safe or easy DIY project. Your would need to install an LP source for fuel, and a transfer switch with all the associated wiring. Then there is the sheet metal shields that surround the gennny, to contain the heat. Plus the possible ingress of the engines exhaust.

Not that big of a deal really, I did my own in our 06 Landmark. I went with a gas genset instead of propane

You could by-pass a transfer switch by just adding a outlet near the generator to plug in the shore power cord. You would need to unplug from pedestal and plug in there.
Also add a heat shield, and an exhaust system. If you use a propane generator it avoids the need for carrying extra fuel somehow.
