Refill disposable propane bottles?

Those adapters have been around for a long time. My dad had one in the 70s and refilled a lot of bottles with it. I always preferred white gas stoves and lanterns and still use them. The only thing I carry that runs on propane outside of the camper is my Camp Chef three burner stove and I use a 10 lbs bottle or a hose connected to the camper for that. So don't need the little bottles for anything except a Big Buddy heater that I seldom use.

for about 3 bucks a piece (2 pack less than 6.00) at Wally World, I don't think I would take the chance of refilling.

My thoughts as well . . .

Not worth worth the hassle . . . or the risk!

I am surprised that there is not some sort of return option to keep the little green tanks out of the land fills!

Can you do this reliably? I see these adapters on EBay and was just wondering..
I do it all the time and after many refills the seals do leak. To determine when to discard the bottle I use snoop, a liquid foaming solution, to test the seals. So far I have discarded one bottle after approx 10 refills while some are lasting much longer.
