Refinishing Slide Trim

We have a small section on the side of our slide trim that needs to be refinished so it will match the rest again. We have the cherry interior. We have tried putty and stain stick, but did not work very well. Knowing how they were finished at the factory may help in the repair. Any suggestions welcome, especially if someone out there has found something that will work!:)

Last year at the national rally in Goshen, we toured the Heartland plant and my wife asked one of the people there what to use and he gave her a color stick that looked like a large crayon. She still uses it and it did a great job. Give Heartland a call and they should fix you up. Hope this helps.

I just read this tip in a handyman magazine - use your hairdryer to warm the stick before you use it. I didn't like the way my stain stick worked either, but I'm gonna try this.

I also found a paint color at Lowes that is a really good match Valspar Autumn Russet - you can get the little sampler can for about 3 bucks.
