Satellite question for 2015 Trail Runner 27FQBS

Hello all,

New to the board but had a question on the satellite connection. I see the connection on the back of the trailer but when I hook my Winegard C2 Satellite to that junction, I do not get the signal inside (under the TV location) out to my receiver box. When I run the line directly from the satellite to the receiver box, it works fine. I see on the junction box under the TV that there are (2) connections with one saying satellite. What am I doing wrong? :)

Is there a separate connection for Satellite versus the Cable connection on the back?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mattyram,

If you're plugging the dish coax into the cable TV connector on the outside of the trailer, it won't work. The cable wiring goes to a signal booster where it combines with the over the air TV antenna wiring before continuing to the living area. Satellite signals won't get through the signal booster.

I'm not sure if your Trail Runner comes with an external satellite connector. Perhaps another Trail Runner owner can comment.

Btw, the label and 2nd connector on the wall plate in the living area don't necessarily mean you have the satellite wiring. It may just be simpler for the factory to use the same wall plate on all trailers.

You can use a diplexer to bypass the signal booster in the trailer, You can then use the external cable connection with satellite or cable depending on what you have available.

This thread has details on how to add a diplexer.

I don't believe that our 2013 Trail Runner 22RK has a sat hookup in it, although it does have the cable input on the outside back wall.
