Savage 325A Bolt Action 30-30

I have a Savage 325A in my shop and I am noticing that the chamber (not bore) appears to have a liner. I looked on an auction site at one that was well documented with photo's and see the exact same ring around the chamber. This could add credence to the claims of machine gun barrels used to make these guns, since (my understanding is) that machine gun barrels were slightly over-sized to account for variances in cartridges during war time. Did Savage actually add a chamber liner to "true" the chamber to the casing of the 30-30? The reason the firearm came to my shop was that it was told to the current owner that it had split a casing when fired only once. When I saw the liner I initially thought it might be a broken case in the chamber. Anyone have insight on this?
