Slide not moving just grinding

My bedroom slide started having difficulties retracting, now that I got it in, I cannot extend it. it moves s bit and then just starts grinding. Is it time to just replace the gear box, for lack of a better word. Here is a video of what I am getting. Thanks hopefully easy.

Here is a link to the video:

I would first guess stripped (plastic?) gears in the motor from the video.

When asking for help on the forum please list the year and model of RV, and brand and model (if available) of slideout, refrigerator, air conditioner, etc. so we can help out more intelligently.

make sure nothing is binding up that would have caused the gears to strip out if thet are. Something had to have happened to cause the problem

Thanks. I had the year, make and model at the end of the post. Wouldn't know where to find the slide model. hoped that was enough.

In your video when you bring the slide in one chain gets very loose. Have you looked at the pulleys and cables?
Something is binding.
And if you need a new motor/gearbox one was just listed for sale here.

Peace
Dave

My bedroom slide is binding at the top right and bottom left corners, the roundhead screws are cutting into the stud caps, slide box jumps when on the inward move when the box goes over the screw heads. The gears are still ok, I think.

Sorry, my bad.

Looks like you have a BAL (Brand) Accuslide. We have manuals for this in our library under the "Tools" tab at the top of each forum page.
Here they are: https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/?man=/Slide_Outs/Rooms/BAL

Here is a You Tube search on BAL Accuslide troubleshooting: The 3rd hit seems to indicate that the motors go out pretty often:

I did an E-Bay search for "Ball Accuslide Gearbox" and got a number of hits. What was so surprising was the number of these each vendor has sold so far: 326 from 1 vendor, 305 from another!!!

On Edit: Found an interesting post on the Montana (brand) owners forum on the BAL slideout gearbox problems subject: https://www.montanaowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83547

The gearbox went out on our 2018 Road Warrior when we were in Colorado Springs in May 2021. I could not find one at any RV dealer or anywhere local. But I did find one that a mobile repair guy had on his truck when he came into the campground to repair another's rig. He offered to install, but not to sell it to me.
It took 45 minutes to remove/install the new gearbox, and around $300.
