Stuck sewer pipe adapter

What do others do to lesson the adapter that screws into CG pipe fittings? Yesterday I had 2 that got stuck and only way I got them out was w/ a screw driver and hammer. Do not recall this ever happening before, but really don't want to go thru that again. Soap up the threads 1st?

I've seen many campground sewer openings with pretty rusted, "crudded" up metal threads. All I can suggest is some preventative metal pipe thread cleaning with a stiff wire brush (maybe on a drill?). The rusty threads fall apart, too. This falls on the campground maintenance. I think they make a short male-female adapter that would provide good threads again without massive plumbing repairs

I always keep a squirt bottle of water in my passthru for all kinds of small cleanup chores. I have had good luck useing it to wet the female threads, clean the crud with an old toothbrush, then bottle again to flush them out.
