Suburban SW12DE Magnesium or aluminum anode? Part number?

I think I toasted my heating element in our SW12DE. While troubleshooting, I noticed that the anode looks pretty bad too... so I started shopping online for replacement parts, and I see that they offer two types of anodes, magnesium and aluminum. Can someone please confirm which is correct for my heater? A part number would be great. thanks!

Both Magnesium or aluminum will work. Magnesium may protect the tank from corrosion but the Aluminum may reduce issues if your have problems with hydrogen sulfide (smelly water).

For more information regarding the Anode rod, check out the Suburban Anode rod replacement guide.

The Suburban WH manual indicates that the part number for the anode is 232767 and should work with the models SW10D, SW12D, SW16D, SW10DE, SW12DE, and SW16DE
