Vent on stairs

Hey guys I was eying I could cover the vent on my steps in my fifth wheel. When I’m open outside door for grill it’s cold underneath, seems like such a waste to cool that area. I don’t want to damage anything so I’m asking first. Tia

been closing off floor heat vents and return vent in steps in the summer months when not using furnace for 5 years now. It really helps with keeping cooler. A/c doesn't work as hard and cycles a lot better. have had no problems at all. i recommend it for sure if you are having cooling problems.
