Heat duct in storage area

Picked up a new 3055 RL a couple of weeks ago and while going through air duct cleaning today took off the register in the front storage bay and found that there was no duct work coming to the register from the furnace. Did it just get left off and should have been there? If so, I need to contact the dealer about have it put on as there would be no heat coming to the storage area and cooler weather is coming especially in the Northeast.

The register is there just to allow air to circulate so it does not require a connection to the furnace.
