What a great area to have a rally with all the Civil War Battlegrounds nearby. From Lookout Mountain Battle to Chickamauga Battlegrounds, this area is rich in history which molded our Nation. Downtown Chattanooga is another treat in itself with the Tennessee Aquarium and the river walk. Go ahead and book early.

Note - the campground is just south of the address listed by approx. 1 block. The exit to take off of I-75 is exit 1.

This is great news as we live about 20 minutes from this park. Just be advised that if the weather is rainy the campground can get pretty soft and will hold water.

I suppose we can go that far into Rebel country. Surely there is a golf course somplace around there. Figure us for getting in on Wednesday and leaving on Monday. I will shot for our usual extra activity on Thursday morning for those interested.

The map of the campground has been uploaded on the first post. This is a great area for those who love history, especially Civil War in that there are two great battlegrounds nearby - Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain. We will have to work around a Civil War theme.

As of right now, all campsites are temporary. The campground is working to have all of the Heartland folks together therefore some might be moved closer together near the cutoff time to have all of us in one area. They would prefer not to give campsite assignments given out right now. All of the sites will be on the left side of the campground in the 50 amp area. A better idea of assignments will be in the middle to end of August.

Nathan,My wife and I have a new Landmark Orlando on order. It is not due in to the dealer till around the second week of July.We would like to attend the rally in Chattanooga since we will be in Atlanta the week before that. This would be our first rally. Can we sign up for it now or do we have to wait until we get it and have a vin # and offically become a HOC menber. Thanks Frank Sandidge

Congratulations on your new Orlando. That's our favorite floor plan of all of the LM365s. You can go ahead and register with the campground now for the rally. As far as signing up for the HOC, you will have to have your vin #. My suggestion is to wait until the dealer get notification of the coach is going on line (they are given the vin # at the time) or upon when the coach is delivered to the dealership. With it being so new - Of course an open house will need to be in order in that all of us like to see the brand new coaches. Let us know when she gets in and how your PDI inspection goes. Again Congrats.

Question - would anyone be interested into going to a civil war dinner theater on Thursday night (this would be a pre-rally event)??? In a town northwest of Chattanooga (Whitwell) is a church that has been converted into a dinner theater focusing on the history of the civil war. It's called Buttonwillow Church Civil War Dinner Theater (http://www.buttonwillowchurch.com/). Check out the website by clicking on the theater name. We can get a discount ($39.95 per person) for a group of 20 or more people. The show starts at 5:00 pm central time and its about a 40 minutes drive. If there's enough interest, I will go ahead a make a reservation.

As of right now, I haven't made the reservations for the dinner theater yet since the group rate is for 20+ folks and we only have 4 couples (8 people) signed up. Once we get to 5 couples (that will be half way to the 20), I'll make the reservations. So far we have the Mathis', Blackfords, Talleys and James Brown who have said they would like to go.

Hey Byrd, I have talked with our Son, and given him your request for a demonstration of the life of a Civil War Soldier. He said he would send out an email to some friends in the Chattanooga area and see if anyone would like to do this. He also said if he can't find anyone who is available he might be able to come up and conduct the program. One issue is with this time of year most reenactors are quite busy with events, this is a prime time of year for the Battle Reenactments. FYI, 2 weeks prior to your rally the "Battle of Tunnel Hill" reenactment takes place in Tunnel Hill, GA if anyone is interested? When Jeff finds someone I'll give them your contact info if that's okay, and then y'all can discuss the particulars concerning the program you're looking for.

Hi Brian - sorry but for some reason, I'm not getting notification when someone post on this thread. We would love to have ya'll come to the rally. All you have to do is call the campground which has the phone number on the first post and then notify back to this thread that you have registered. That way we will make sure you have the welcome bag and other info for you. Hope to see ya soon.

Ok - just an update. I've started an agenda on the first post but it's very tentative. Still trying to work out some bugs and nail down some stuff. Don't forget:

1. We are still 4 people short on booking the dinner theater as the pre-rally event. Folks who have said they would like to go are: Mathis', Blackfords, Talleys, J Brown, Sandidges, Winkles, Funderburgs and Butlers. Anyone else????

2. A t-shirt has been designed for this rally. If you like one, or two, or three, just let me know how many and what size. A T will be put by your name. Payment will be due upon pickup at the rally. T-shirt deadline will be Sept 6th.

We are searching for a reenactor to come talk to the group about life as a soldier during the Civil War. If you might know of someone who would be will to come, please let me know.

Great news - Saturday's night supper will be a catered event by Chef Josh. The only thing you will need to bring is your favorite drink. Josh is an Executive Chef who has just moved into the Chattanooga area. He's been an Executive Chef at such restaurants as Conch Republic at Rocket Landing and City Limits in Virginia.

Don't forget about your t-shirts. Just let us know the sizes that you will need. A sample of the shirts is on the first post. Cost is $10 for small to extra large (xl); 2xl or 3xl will be $12. The group photo will be taken Saturday evening with these t-shirts.

Still haven't gotten enough folks signed up for the pre-rally dinner theater (need 20) so this is still on hold. I'm trying to talk the manager into letting a smaller group come for the discount price but so far, no such like. Stay tune as things develop.

Valerie - I'm coming in Sunday early afternoon to drop the camper off and then run down to AL with Nathan to pick the car up. I'll probably be back late Sunday evening. Nathan is working Monday - Wednesday, coming in late Wednesday night. Is there something that I can help you with?

No, I was just wondering. We arrive on Monday from Kentucky.

WOW - can you believe the TN rally is a little over a week away. Can I ask for a couple of volunteers to help with:

1. Raffle ticket sales
2. photographer (Malcolm-hint hint)
3. help organize the food as it's brought in Friday night for the Meet-n-Greet

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

47667 Don't forget about the silent auction for all kinds of items that have been donated. These items include things such as gift cards, tumblers, director chairs, a couple of tables, Truma Level Check, guides to State and National parks books, atlas book and, and I mean a big AND, 4 nights at River Plantation to name a few. Bid sheets will be out Friday and Saturday with auction closing at 9:00 pm sharp Saturday night. 75% of all money raised will go to the Heartland Gives Back project -Chattanooga Room in the Inn (https://www.chattanoogaroomintheinn.com/). This is a non-profit community organization for homeless single women and children to become self-sufficient.

Of course the campground is not very full yet, but I've been getting pretty good service from the campground wi-fi for work and for updating my iPad last night. Not sure if anyone else has tried.
