Feeling kind of dumb now... I do have a leaking valve on the holding tank that is dripping on the ground. I opened the drain valve so there wouldn't be accumulation in the tank, but I know that's not smart on the black water tank... probably the same thing here????

Thank you. I will look again when I get home. Both drains drop straight down through the floor, so I guess I'll have to get down in the basement behind the wall to see where they come through. This makes sense because the odor is stronger in the basement than in the kitchen. No smell at all...

Update on this problem. Tech was back and replaced the ceiling control box again. This time he didn't connect the furnace to the control box. AC appears to be working well, but still have the furnace issue to contend with. Tech is trying to get Heartland to authorize more time to trouble...
