    2002 Duramax smoking

The warranty was for 7 years or 200,000 miles, whatever came first. He is definitely out of the 7 year mark! To the OP, I hate to hear about your injector woes. I am blessed that my factory injectors made it to 199k miles before GM replaced them under the extended warranty. That set of...

    Caution decal

Driving to work the other day (wish I could have taken a picture), there was a decal on the left side of the tractor trailer that had an arrow pointing left and the decal said "Left Side". There was a similar arrow and decal on the right side, but the decal said "Suicide". I had to think about...

    Exhaust Brake

Carl, I am not 100% sure, it depends on the manufacturer of the turbo brake. I believe some have a switch you can access the brake. I tried searching the dieselplace.com website for LLY turbo brakes but came up empty handed. However, I searched the duramaxforum.com and found a few, see...

    Exhaust Brake

Carl, The LLY has a variable vane turbo on it. You can get a program to load into the ECM that will allow you to activate turbo brake. Below is a cut-n-paste from duramaxhub.com on the LLY specs... 6.6L DURAMAX LLY SPECS Engine: 6.6L Duramax LLY, 90 degree V8 diesel Years Produced: 2004...

    LBZ Duramax

As was mentioned, it isn't the number of miles, it is the type. I am the original owner of an '02 DMax with the rare ZF 6 speed, see my signature for the mods. The truck is nearing 400k miles and I used it two weeks ago to pull my SOB 5er, pulled like a dream. If I were you I would do my due...

Feedback wanted on new Pinbox and Hitch selections

Jim, To throw in another option, how about the Reese Goosebox hitch. It is an air ride coupler that replaces the factory pin box. This set up does not require an 5th wheel hitch, just the goose neck ball. I am seriously contemplating this set up on my next 5er since I do tow a goose-neck...

    Toys and Winches

Just to throw out another option. I purchased a 4k pound "trailer" winch for my 28' gooseneck to load and unload my project '71 Camaro. the "trailer" winch not only has a power in but also a power out to unload the car in a safe and sane manner. Just my $0.02 worth. -Mark

New trailer tires......utility trailer that is!

I have used Maxxis tires on my SOB 5th wheel for the last 10 years. I have not had one problem with any of the sets, they held up well and have given me good mileage. Good luck with your decision. -Mark

    Palo Duro Canyon State Park

We have camped in Palo Duro Canyon State Park twice over Thanksgiving. It is a great place, and had a lot of fun. There are great hiking and biking paths plus a lot of wildlife to see. My son and I hiked out of the canyon and jumped Dahl sheep, deer and all kinds of other creatures. The...

    Be careful out there!

That is definately a half ton truck. You can tell by the hood, the HD's have the "power" bump in the front of the hood (unless its an '03) and the tow mirrors. -Mark

    New 2017 Duramax numbers.....

As mentioned, the details on the '17 truck are not out yet. I do know they do have a camera option, I believe it is for 4 cameras, 2 mirrors, 3rd brake light and a wireless for the rear of the camper. Not sure on anything else, but we should know something by this weekend as the truck is...

    Upgrade or New truck ?

Is your truck gas vs. diesel? The exhaust brake is a must for diesel vehicles pulling heavy in the mountains. I'm not even sure if you can put an exhaust brake on a gas engine.

    B&W Hitches

I had some of the stainless steel hardware gall and messed up the "U" bolts on one occasion and the square vertical post on the second occasion. B&W sent new parts to me free of charge. I now use an anti-seize compound on the hardware and haven't had a problem since. -Mark

DW is H... Bent on going to New Orleans need some insight

I'll add my $0.02 worth. I will second the WWII museum, was called the D-Day Museum when I went with my Dad and Son. When the museum found out my Dad was a WWII Vet, they pulled out the red carpet and treated him like a king. If you are in the Quarters, you have to stop at Central Groceries...
