This sounds like a good option and we've been thinking about how to accomplish this - the "base" doesn't seem small enough to downsize the mattress without redoing the whole base??? Is that what you did?

Thanks for the insight - not looking for perfection here - we live in our unit five months each winter and changing the bed is my worst nightmare - but thanks for your comments.

We have a 2009 Bighorn 3670 and it came with a king size bed - not my preference for sure but the problem lies in making it up with fitted sheets, blankets, etc. - there is NO room for anything in the slide - does anyone have some answers to this problem? We've installed a piece of "Masonite"...

Congrats on your 3670 We've been in our 3670 (2009) for five weeks now. We plan to use it for five months in the winter in Arizona and sometimes experience those cool temps. With the double pane windows and the fireplace, we use the furnace only to heat it up in the mornings - the fireplace...
