Agree, sounds like it could be a connection problem like was just said. Wouldn't be a bad idea to give The Norcold Guy a call or send them an Email. They've helped me with troublesome issues in the past. They give support and sell parts.
Pretty good review of the two brands. I started doing some more research this morning and foudn that Dometic actually owns Atwood... Did you know this?! Strange comparison between two brands owned by the same parent company.
The fire stuff is scary, no doubt. I put the ARP one on for added...
Sounds very similar to an issue we had this past season with our Mach 3. I didn't notice any kind of connection problem. Maybe an internal connection at the T-stat? We replaced the thermostat and that solved the problem for us. I should mention that this was an issue with our air conditioning...
I found it on the store I use. They seem to have anything and everything by Norcold. Here it is:

I have a 1210 unit like you and many others I'm seeing here on this thread and have had many of the same...
I had the exact same issue and like you probably are, I'm in not warm but HOT HOT weather. I had a lot of help from The Norcold Guy. They have the vent specs posted in their tech blog but it was still a little confusing. After annoying them to no end with Email and phone calls we got it working...
