Fresh water system not using all 57 gallons

Usually the stated volume is based on the tank measurements. While that will give the number of gallons it will hold, you probably cannot get that much out of it. The pump connection to the tank is a half or three fourths inch above the bottom of the tank so the pump will start sucking air...

    Fresh water tank drain

Unfortunately, you cannot really drain the fresh water tank. The drain fitting on the tank is a bit above the bottom of the tank so there is always a half inch or so of water left. Also the bottom of the tank will sag down some holding even more water. I always sanitize the tank and then...

    Fresh Water Tank lost capacity!

The freshwater tank and the water heater are listed sepatetly on the tire and loading decal. 440 lbs for the fresh water tank and 50 for the 6 gal water heater so that is not it. It may be the vent blocked by water. The fill line and vent line are both come some distance from the tank to the...

    Fresh Water Tank lost capacity!

My 2014 Sundance XL fifth wheel is supposed to have a 53 gallon water tank according to the literature and the tire and loading information decal. I had not done much dry camping until this last summer. I seemed to run out of water sooner than expected. I recently filled the fresh water tank...

    Auto-switching propane system?

I had the one shown in the picture. (TPA,Another piece of chinese junk!) I found out it would not switch automatically the hard way. A refrigerator full of spoiled food. Was gone all day, and when I returned, no propane to anything. Went out and checked. Red flag was up but no propane flow...

ATF: Sundance - TV backer board location

For the Sundance XLT 285 ts, I was able to remove the TV outlet to get access to the wall space and measure over to the backer board. Still had to guess how wide it was but got the TV mounted with no problem. There is supposed to be a sticker but if the trailer has set awhile, it falls off.

    Solar mounting

Heartland customer service rep. told me the roof on the XLT is only 0.20 inches thick and will not hold screws sufficiently for solar panels. He said they did not recommend installing solar panels on the XLT roof. He also said there are no roof trusses but I can definitely see some form of...

    Slide damaging floor

I guess I should do an update on this issue, especially because it is very interesting. I did in fact contact Heartland Customer Service and they were baffled by the problem. Finally a supervisor called me as asked if the floor was not carpted in the area I was talking about. I assured him is...

    Upgrade Tires

Have a 2014 Sundance XLT with, what do you know, Power King Towmax. I noticed that the tread was coming off one of the tires so made a quick trip to Discount for 5 new Maxxis LR E tires. When talking a Heartland Customer Service Representative about another issue, I mentioned to him that the...

Adding 2nd AC to Sundance 285TS

I only covered the fixed portion of the two really large windows leaving the small slider and awning window at the bottom uncovered (and usable for ventilation if needed). On most of the windows I could just tuck the edges of the foil into the window frame and then lower the shade and it stayed...

Adding 2nd AC to Sundance 285TS

The 285ts has a lot of glass area so adding the foil bubble wrap makes a big improvement in daytime cooling. It is also very easy and fairly inexpensive. Also, that big dining area slide provides a lot of heat gain. It is not as well insulated as the main coach is. The floor has no...

    Sailun Tires

Unfortunately, my Towmax equipped Sundance XLT has 15 inch wheels so Sailuns aren't in my plans. Think I will just go with the Maxxis. I do have over 6000 miles on the two year old Towmax and so far they look OK but still uncomfortable with what I have read on this forum.

ATF: Sundance - Hook up question

One of the coax connections goes strait from the utility compartment to the Living area TV nich. That is intended for a satellite setup. The other goes to the booster. The booster if on then feeds antenna to the bedroom tv and the living area TV if on. If it is off it picks up the feed from...

    Slide damaging floor

Still in warranty (10 months old) but dealer says Heartland will not cover slide room adjustments after 90 days.

    Blackwater Tank Concern!

Both my tanks (gray and black) are under the floor of the basement area. Black is at the front and gray is behind it. They sit crossways between the main frame rails. Dealer refuses to do anything and I sure am not into dropping the colopast. Guess I will proceed normally until something...
