I'm curious about the accident. What brand hitch did you have? Did it come loose during the accident? We went with an Hitch Crafter Air Hitch. It uses the Brinkley head. Hitch itself is made of 3/8" formed steel.
I can't see where it would be a big price increase. Already been stated they have a chassis that is 102" in a toyhauler. They just won't build it. I do live in a 102" wide unit. Soon as I step inside any standard width unit I notice it.
Correct. The hotel chain was also called that. Hotel won. On topic though, only issue stopping me from buying a Landmark is the lack of wide body. If you have never lived in one might be different. They look very cramped after living in my DRV.
Been looking at Heartlands site and little confused on this construction. The floor of the slide outs. Is it plywood with some sort of backing for insulation? If so wouldn't the rollers crush the insulation. Or is it laminated like the rest of coach?
Well it seems Heartland dropped the Mesa floor plan and it was the only one without the w/d in the bedroom closet. Deal breaker for me. Work nights a lot and that would interfere with sleep.
Insulation is a big plus for us. We are full time but I still work full time. I am a welder by trade and chase shutdowns. Almost spent the winter in North Dakota this year. Do they offer the "yeti" package with the BH?
Sorry for confusion. I work refinery shutdowns. I'm a combo welder by trade. these jobs are generally 4-6 weeks and I'm back on road. Sometimes they are longer but not generally. Wife and I are together full time in our unit. By the time the dealer gets a custom ordered unit, there is no telling...
We have dual heat pumps on our current coach. It works well down to around 45, we usually turn on furnace at 40ish. Unit will change over automatically around 38ish. We are in rather cold climates sometimes. I chase shutdowns with petro and chemical plants. If big money in cold area, we go. Heat...
Dealer we are talking to orders his Landmarks with no heat pump and a fireplace. He states the fireplace emits more heat than a heat pump. Says running system fan with it circulating heat works better than the heat pumps. I have heat pumps in current unit and no fire place. Is this correct?
Especially for an inferior unit. Before energy efficient models were made these were necessary. Older units used way too much energy. It is time for these manufacturers to wake up and offer the better units. It could be the deciding factor on me buying a landmark unit.
I belong to several rv forums and many have replaced theirs with residential units. Never heard of a problem. Just praise for how good they work. Never read of a failure either with one. I am fixing to buy a new unit and wish I had this option.
Wished Heartland would offer this in these "full time units". The gas absorbent units have never worked as well as a compressor unit. With these new "energy efficient" models an extra battery and a small inverter is all that would be needed to run it.
Before I suffered with this much aggravation I would install energy efficient residential refer, inverter and add a battery. End of problems and a better working unit. Really don't understand with the efficiency of new refers why they are not used solely.
Re: considering new SanAntonio
don't know how i missed that. Thanks. Sounds great. Are the slide outs warm in a stiff north wind? It isn't in my Mobile Suites
Re: considering new SanAntonio
That is good to know. I currently use a cc long bed gmc. Takes a very wide turn. Would love to find out how well it does in cold temps.
We are full time in a 06 32' DRV. It is too small and a new DRV is not in the mix. How do these units fare in cold weather, down to 0? My DRV is cold in slides. How are these? Can you really tow these with a short bed truck? Any axle problems? 7,000lbs axles seem underrated. My DRV has 8,000. I...
