    Waxing my new Augusta

I have used Dri Wash exclusively on my GC since new. Black streaks wipe right off, bugs on the front cap come off VERY easily with just water and my RV brush. That's all I use on my bike as well. The NEW version is called ULTRA ION, I have switched over to that now. It is supposed to repel...

    Super singles

I can tell you that on the Big Semi's the single tire is not as stable, even though they haul as much. You can feel it in the cab, once you are used to it you don't think about it again. There is a little roll from side to side that you don't get with duals. I was in a 08' Volvo hauling 80K...

    New diesel question

Think of it a moment, all surfaces that "rub" or have a friction fit, or very close tollerances HAVE TO break in somewhat. The piston rings have to "seat" correctly or you'll be burning oil for ever. There are many pieces in your tranny and engine, not so much in the rearend. Gears have to mesh...

    New Dodge Ram

Guys: I just came back from a 1100+ mile trip Monday. This time was just Solo, I'll have to remortgage the house to do a TOWING trip. Ha Ha! I got a rise in my MPG 1-1.5 increase in my MPG. I'm up over 12 mpg now, a few more miles more it might loosen up a little more. I'm up to around...

    Heartland advertising

Yeah, wuzup with that, I see Mobile Suites are running ads in Trailer Life. People ask me when I'm out, "Who makes your trailer ? Never heard of Heartland" I'm thinking that "they think" I bought a white elephant.

Feeling abused at the pump? Some startling facts ...

Talking about the gas prices elsewhere, I don't see and Bosnian's hauling 16,000 pound 5ver's through out their country. How big is Bosnia...size of Texas maybe? Finally when I retire, the economy goes to ****....just my luck.

    A bit of relief ???

Heck, It's $4.45 in Southern PA. It takes $145 to fill my tank !!! and I'm STILL getting a crumby 11.2 mpg NOT TOWING !!!!

    New Dodge Ram

Congrats on the new Laramie...as for me, my mileage still sucks 11.2 solo. I still only have a little over 5000 mi on it. I'm hearing it won't get much better. On the other hand the truck is heavy on it's own, over 8000 lbs. and 4:30 gears.

    AlpenLite - Out of Business

Back when I bought my GC, my dealer WAS going to drop Alpenlite as his high line and go with Landmark. He then decided NOT to, He only sold one Landmark "MINE", told Heartland he didn't want to persue their line. Now I bet he wishes he took on Heartland product.

    Diesel Prices

Exxon-Mobil :( made $47 billion last year, invested a grand total of $25 million, that ain't squat. We've been bending over grabbing our ankles for a couple years now, while they laugh all the way to the bank. Our congressmen don't care, they get a break on their fuel, I read somewhere they...

    Fuel mileage !!!!!

The difference in your towing from your other trailer to your Landmark may be in the tires. My last trailer had 6 tires @ 80lbs pressure and were 285x16 (pickup truck tires) basically. The Landmark's 4 tires are specially made for towing, there's NO tread wrapping around the corner of the tire...

    Slideout support

If the transport system that your slideouts are built upon are of GOOD quality, which Heartlands ARE, you don't need supports. Years back when slideouts were something new, there were cheap versions in lower lines of RVs, they NEEDED them. Now not so much unless maybe a modest entry level trailer.

    Diesel tank fill tube

I don't know how yours is made, I would think you could go to a salvage yard and get an older one. The metal only goes so far then a rubber hose is clamped on, at least my Dodge was made that way. I don't feel that it is welded in, I would imagine it's bolted or screwed in place. I know why...

    Huskey Aluminum V-Notch gate!!!

The "shiney" I was talking about is the CLEAR anodize over a BUFFED aluminum, it gives off a chrome look with NO maintainence. Chrome is my favorite color, got about $6000 worth on my Fatboy.

I just got on awhile ago, took a long time to verify my username-password before opening the "new posts" section. I guess we'll just have to live with it. I also get on a truck forum with the same format as this one, it's not slow. Don't know wuzup....

    Intermittent Outages / Slow downs

I don't know how it's going better in your area, I haven't been on in 4 days hoping it would be better by now. It is a "little" faster, but NOT like it used to be. Heck, I'm even on Cable hook up, I'd hate to be on dial up, I'd fall asleep waiting to post, I'm only getting drowsy at the current...

    Huskey Aluminum V-Notch gate!!!

I too bought a "Huskey" dropped tailgate from Got Chrome on Ebay. It is constructed very well, BUT I thought it would be "shiney" anodized. You know, polished then anodized. I was a little bummed when taking it out of the box. Now I have to get my back up camera installed in the gate. I may...

    Backup Cameras

After using the Ford factory back up camera, I found it very useful. Here's my delima, I bought a Husky Liner dropped tailgate, when I take the stock gate off, I'll lose my camera. I checked locally, not compatable with ford's. So I just ordered a replacement camera that is Ford. Now when I hook...

    Gps ?

I recently bought the Nuvi 360, it's mainly for my motorcycle use. The 200 series does NOT have text to voice. Other words, the 200's can't name the street to turn on. It will just say turn right. It also won't tell you what side of the street your destination is. I bought the 360 for an...

    fuel milage

I'll try to keep positive thoughts, hoping it gets broke-in before I go broke. I know the truck itself is heavy, over 8000 lbs, the new smoke-soot crap, 4:30 screw etc. I'm just hoping for 13-14 maybe. One thing I do know, it won't get overloaded :) .

    fuel milage

Guy's: 2 weeks ago I drove to KY 520mi, @ 65 and averaged 11.2 mpg. Coming back home I ran @ 70-75 the whole way home, averaged 11.2. I still think my mpg sucks, I now have just over 5000 mi on it, please tell me it WILL get better. When do they go back to the summer blend of fuel, it was...

    New Horn for my truck

HI Guy: Well, the train horns are FINALLY on, I gave up waiting on the weather; I took the truck to a customizer down the road. They charged me 4hrs. labor. I have the compressor/tank attached to the framerail, the horns are there too, pointing down. The sound hits the ground and bounces...

And I thought that I was the only "weird" one that named a GPS. My wife named the Ford one in the truck "Gina". I didn't name my NUVI as of yet. I told my DW that I "still" wasn't wild about a woman's voice telling me where to go....JUST KIDDING !!! I'll use the NUVI for my bike with an...

Landmark with a twist - Interested?

I've looked around, there are SOME nice units with little garages, but none with the interior of a Landmark. I'd be curious to see how tastefull it could be done. An area just big enough for one large bike (touring) would be great.

    Which truck?

As for me, I say let your wallet be your guide. I love my 08' King Ranch EXCEPT for the fuel mileage...only 4200mi on it yet. Out of the "3" the F-450 has the shortest turning radius, you wouldn't believe how it turns. THAT comes in handy with the big trailers. My Dodge club cab didn't turn as...

    Leveling

Guy's: I've tried a few things in the past, what I like is using a 2x8 about 5' long, then lagging a 3' on top of it, then a 1 1/2' on top of that. Put them at the one end and it looks like a step. You don't have to have all your tires raised to level, I pull forward, look in the mirror, when...

    Which Tow Vehicle

In this case size does matter, you never hear a guy saying "I have too much truck", I've heard and said, "my truch is not heavy duty enough". Buy as big as you can afford, not matter what brand. I'm partial to the King Ranchers myself, GM and Dodge doesn't have one in that level. Just my opinion.

    Landing gear on blocks....?

Guys: I took my GC to a RV dealer for a repair to my pump system. When I dropped it off I had the legs adjusted for MY truck, everything was fine. When I picked it up, "they" didn't extend the legs enough and just ran the legs down enough to get THEIR truck out from under it. When I tried to...

Repairing the Wood trim around Slides

Hi Linuxkidd: Nope, not a mark on the trailer, it didn't even mark the tan bedrail covers, just dented the bedrails. The tailgate got it the worse, the pinbox has that steel angled up at the rear of the box, bowed the gate out about 4-5 inches in the middle. Every time I think about it, I just...

Repairing the Wood trim around Slides

Guy's: Thanks for the replies, I have bigger fish to fry NOW.....I'll get back to the trim fix AFTER I get my truck fixed. (3000 mi on it) I did the very thing that WE all fear, I pulled forward (inched forward) with the trailer legs up. BLAM!!!! It's a long story, so I'll spare all the...

Rating on RV deep cycle battery?

RV batteries Hey Guy's: I just bought a new battery for my GC. My Landmark came with a DEKA battery. I looked around at Trojans at Gander Mtn. I thought they were a little pricey, $129. I found out that NAPA is now using DEKA Co. for their house NAPA brand. I bought a group 27 battery same as...
