Thanks again for the help. The board is cutting the power to the compressor (can hear the relay and I checked the voltage). I can’t short the thermostat as it is digital (Dometic CCC2) so I’m unsure if it is the board or thermostat. Going to see if any campers here will lend me their thermostat...
Thank you for the suggestion. I took the ceiling cover down and taped up anywhere air might have come through. Unfortunately my problem persists.
Also check the coils and they are definitely not freezing up.
+1
We have a "virtual phone number" on the dogs collar tags since 1) they are not associated to an address and 2) any call rings all ours and in-law's cell phones at the same time. Someone it bound to pick up the call.
My Cyclone's main A/C unit keep cycling on/off about every 8-10 minutes (give or take). When the compressor is running the unit cools fine (~15-18º lower than intake) but the compressor will only run for about 8-10 minutes. The fan goes to high for ~20 seconds and the units shuts off with the...
Thanks Bob. We’ll definitely keep an eye (and an infrared thermometer) on all the switches in the panel. I replaced all the ceiling lights with LED and so far so good. About 2/3 of the incandescent bulbs were some shade of black. A little scary considering all the times we have left the lights...
Installed an APEC RO filtration system under the sink. Will probably relocate the tank to the underbelly at some point (seem to recall some empty space next to the water pump).
Also added instant hot water heater and faucet.
More electrical fun
The interior ceiling lights in the living room went out the other day. Turns out the switch and cable burned out.
Snipped and re-crimped (properly) the wire and replaced the switches with lit ones. Replacing the bulbs with LEDs to reduce the current draw next as the wire is...
Evicted the squatters from the main AC unit.
Cleaned condenser and evaporator coils, straighten out some bent fins, and cleaned everything. Camper has a rather strong chemical lemon smell but temperature is comfortable - for a Norwegian trapped in Florida that’s not bad.
Probably should not...
We have the heat pump option and in 5 years have used it once. It seems effective to me only down to about 40 degrees. Below that you will likely use the furnace and anything above 50 you probably don''t need heat. So, it you camp a lot in fall and or early spring where the temperature is in the...
We use the 5500 running straight for long weekends with no issues (other than bad electrical connections). We maintain it well, use it frequently, and it has been rock solid. Not even a hiccup. Ran in 95 degree heat at heavy load (both A/C units and my mobile kitchen) for three days straight...
Paper-towel holder
Had enough of the paper towels on the kitchen counter. Purchased a collapsable holder from Walmart ($4.34 with free shipping). Installed it under the kitchen pantry and added two magnets so the arms would stay up and out of the way when the slide it pulled in. The magnets...
Mobile RV techs making a fortune here in Sunrise FL after a newbie in a brand new (broken in now) >40' 5th wheel cut a left turn a tad shy and took out the power distribution box and the protective concrete pillar next to the street. My EMS tripped, re-engaged about a minute later. Still two RVs...
Kitchen Sink
The one that must be obeyed finally had enough of the leaking sink. Took the sink out and dismantled everything as it was leaking from the rim and from each drain. Cleaned everything with denatured alcohol and used 10 times the sealant than the factory. No leaks, happy wife, cold...
Refrigerator Fan
Finally ordered, received, and installed a refrigerator fan. I also replaced the thermistor and the fridge seems to be operating properly again with no more blinking alarms.
Yeah we looked at that but we will be in PA for a figure skating competition that weekend. Would be a short hop for us otherwise since we are camped out in Sunrise.
It is certainly not the lack of rallies or camp-outs that is causing this. :)
Wife is threatening to retire in January and our...
We are surviving :) Living in Florida most of the time which is a rough change for a Norwegian. Really miss the camp-outs and rallies, we have not been able to attend one in several years.
While escaping Irma we boondocked overnight in Jacksonville FL when the camper suddenly lost power. The generator was running but no power past the transfer switch. Thinking I had blown the transfer switch we resigned ourselves to fan only in 95F heat - at least we were making it out. Home a few...
I have taken multiple 3K mile trips and never had issues finding a place to replace the valve stems. The Gs are great, never had a tire issue. I do check them every time I stop and keep them properly inflated.
Suggest a consult with an accountant - I am NOT one.
There are some restrictions:
- Loan must be secured in the home / property (as in if you don't pay the lender forecloses on the property)
- You must itemize deductions (not use the standard deductions)
- The maximum amount for which you can...
Had similar experience with our Cyclone when new. The caulk would smear on the sides of the slides and the slide would "stick" when opening. It was especially bad on the mega slide.
We tried to cover the caulk with masking tape but that came loose fairly quickly. For us it stopped after a few...
We put full length curtains on the inside (black-out curtains) of the three season door. Works very well to block sunlight and keep the heat out of the garage also. Initially though out using colored plexiglass to replace the saran wrap and metal frame but wife wanted curtains.

Fixed the broken master bed. The bed frame had a butt joint that was only held together by two staples - which for 300+ lb person appears inadequate. Glued and stapled some scrap 1/8" plywood to the frame to support the joint.
Replaced the pop-up stopper in the bathroom sink with a removable one from Lowe's so I can clean or fix it it without removing the entire sink next time.
We ordered the G614 from Heartland and the spare has the same rim as the other wheels. We had two flats on our trip to FL due to valve stem issues so we had good looks at the spare :)
We have LevelUp and used that to change the wheels. Back on the road in less than 10 minutes.
The Vikings will unfortunately have to cancel our attendance for the rally as we have a scheduling conflict that we cannot seem to resolve to our favor. We'll see you all down the road.
