Installing polyethylene flat strips to bottom edges of slides

Interesting thread, I thought that I was the only one with exposed delaminating plywood on 3 of my 3600RE's 4 slides (the BR slide is factory sealed with angle aluminum). To that end I installed 1/16 X 1 1/2 angle on the 3 remaining slides (beveled the bottom front for the nylon rub strips) with...

Inside Lights Going from Bright to Dim

I think what you are seeing is normal. Every camper I have owned has done this to some extent. I cured the problem in the Bighorn by replacing all of the incandescent fixtures in the living area with 12 volt fluorescent fixtures.

    Dually Question???

As long as you have the correct inflation chuck you will be okay. Buy one and carry it with you. I personally would not use an extender, too many horror stories.

    What hitch should I buy?

I have the Airsafe Revolution 18K hitch. It is a 2 bag hitch which mounts on standard Reese bed rails. I love the hitch because of the huge amount of up and down travel it has, more travel = smoother ride. Another benefit is the reduced wear and tear on the truck and fiver, not to mention the...

42" Olivea TV in the 3400RE

We have not had any problems with our 42" Olevia. I also carry a 32" Olevia in the basement which I have had for several years and haven't had any problems with it either. They have both been over some very rough roads, especially I80 through Iowa and Illinois, and survived the beating. I would...

Finally got around to uploading the pics of the fridge. The shelf is covered with glued on carpet tile which helps keep things from sliding around.

    Current Bighorn Tire Brands

Our 2009 would have come with Mission tires on it but we opted to upgrade to the Goodyear G614's. That was in March and as I recall the option was $600 at the time.

    electric awning out of wack

Try extending the awning all the way and making sure it is centered on the roller, if not the arms will not align when closed. Just give the fabric a tug, easier if someone is holding the roller up, and center it back up.

    F350 SRW / 3912 Cyclone

Breid, I would have a hand full with my TV pulling that 3912 with a GVWR of 18,000# and a dry hitch weight of almost 2900#. Make sure your TV tires can handle the weight, for example a LT235/85R16 load range E tire has a capacity of 3,042 pounds giving the axle a maximum capacity of 6,084...

    Brake light bulb ????

Sounds as if the problem is vibration. Not cheap but you can always replace the factory lights with these http://www.doranmfgstore.com/ItemForm.aspx?item=%239103&ReturnUrl=Categories.aspx?Category=b32ac115-48a6-4af7-bfe5-1fe31e253c9b

    Adding a refrig

Hi Clay, I have a refrigerator (it's made by Danby and holds a 30 pack) in mine and leave it turned on all the time with no problems. I built a 2 inch tall by 48 inch wide by 24 inch deep platform to set it on alongside my 32 inch flat screen. I will try to remember to take some pics this...

Good luck on the first outing this weekend and congrats on the new rig. The 3580 has a great floor plan. Enjoy

    Report on our first trip

Glad to hear the first trip went well. These rigs really do tow great don't they?! As far as the sensors go, I don't even pay attention to mine any more because they are always wrong. I just dump everything periodically and ignore the lights:D

    Air assist pinbox

ourtinhouse Are you referring to back and forth movement or up and down when you say it is rougher than your old rig? The Mor/Ryde is great for back and forth movement but doesn't help with up and down where the Trailair does by somewhat decoupling the truck from the fifth wheel via the air...

    New diesel question

This is my third Ford PSD and I've never babied any of them during break-in nor have I flogged them. 500 miles of normal driving before a heavy tow is enough to allow the drive train components to "seat" themselves and is not an unreasonable figure. As a matter of fact I'll bet you already have...

    2008 F-350

I've had no problems with my '08 F350. It pulls the Bighorn effortlessly and rides like a dream (when loaded). Fuel mileage varies but you can expect 8-10 towing and 14-15 unloaded with the 4:30 gears which I highly recommend.

    finally here

Welcome to Indiana and congratulations on the new 3580, nice rig. Are you going to stop by the Heartland factory while you are here? We did and watched ours being built, it was quite an experience. Good luck,

    We did it!

Congratulations on the new fiver! You will be amazed how well the Bighorn tows with the Equa-Flex suspension, you'll hardly know it's back there. Happy camping, enjoy.

Towel racks or TP holder in toilet area

We opted not to use the ones that came with the rig and instead went with an over the door towel rack and a free standing TP holder.

    Honest opinons from current owners

We have only owned our Heartland for a couple of months but spent 2 years researching and going to RV shows before we picked the Bighorn in my signature. The list of items on the PDI was short and we have had no issues at all since. This is our third fifth wheel and is far superior to the others...

    Front Storage Door

I love my 3600RE except when I have to access the front storage. Let me preface; I'm old and have an arthritic back and have to believe that whoever put that door in must have been extremely short. I have to get on my knees to get anything out of the bottom of the bin. I wish the door was about...

Troubleshooting for Short in Circuit #4 ('09 3600RE)

There is a metal junction box under the coach adjacent to the slide where the rubber ac flex line connects to the Romex. You can break the circuit there and isolate the slide. That might help with the process of elimination. Good luck.

    Ultra Leather Recliners

We went with the leather Euro option and love 'em. Light enough for the DW to move and quite comfortable to relax in. Only down side is that they didn't come with cup holders....:D

What are you pulling your Bighorn with...

Pull our 3600RE with the truck in my signature an all stock 2008 F350 crew cab long bed dually with the 6.4 diesel, Torqueshift transmission and 4.30 gears. The truck and trailer seem pretty well matched and the Equaflex suspension on the Bighorn complements the trucks Airsafe hitch to a tee.

    tires on bighorn 3600re

Janitor I ordered the Goodyears and they were a $600 option which is a bargain considering you get 5 G614 tires for that amount. I was told by my dealer that the Goodyears are standard only on the Landmarks. Pretty cheap insurance if you ask me.

    Mattress Platform

Some great ideas here. I have a box of leftover carpet tile that I'm going to put over the osb platform. It should help keep the queen size mattress from sliding around as well. Thanks guys.

    Lets not stoop that low.

I don't get it, the Heartland bashing that is. It seems that if you say anything good about about them on some of the forums you're a tagged a "cheer leader" and the bashing begins. Must be an envy thing is all I can figure.

    Our New 3600RE

Muddy, N9MB is my ham radio call sign (been one for over 30 years now) and I'm amazed that you made the connection with the Northrop Flying Wing which has the same tail number. Our New 3600RE

Lefty, It does tow better, the old rig had the Mor/ryde suspension and I think the Trail-air on the Bighorn is as good if not better. The thing pulls like a dream and between the Trail-air suspension and the Airsafe hitch you almost never feel a bump.

    Our New 3600RE

    Our New 3600RE

We picked up our new 3600RE last week and here are a few pictures as I was getting ready to pull it home. We just love it (now that everything is moved in) and the fuel mileage went up by >1 mpg over my old Everest and the Bighorn is 1200 pounds heavier!
