Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Rick, I posted a question and link to the rvnet thread regarding the VW at FTE. I think you commented on it. A few people defended me for posting the question and the thread stayed open. You could probable post this if you wan't there. But you are right a number of them will be upset even if it...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Did a fuel drain. No particles and no water. I am keeping samples and dates just incase. Found out there are a few more people having the same issue towing as me. At 60-65 towing up a 6% grade if I punch it it will not pick up any speed. I went to bully Dog to look at a gauge package and no...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Not really on topic but I have towed know with the 11 250 and have to say something is going on. At low speeds I can pull the tongue off my 8,000 lb Outback. But at higher speeds like 55-60 if I floor it on a 6% grade it will barely pick up speed. I posted a vid of my gauges going up hill. I had...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

mmomega, How many miles do you have now since you found the aluminum in the fuel you drained from the filter? Have you done another test drain? If so did you find anything in it? Thanks

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

porthole, It will probably be a year or two but I would like to go back to a 5th wheel, now that I have a 3/4 ton again. Like the Bighorn BH3010 RE. We only dry camp and I like the water capacity and it is a little shorter that the 40' toy haulers. If I take toys I can double tow.

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Not sure how it works with the 250, Seems like it shouldbe the same as the 150. I called RIVA for help. They had a retired employee whowas an engineer and consults for Keystone. His analysis showed that my F250 wassufficient for this trailer but borderline for the sway. We drove the truck...

No troll here. Been following Rick around the net reading his posts. He has been through a lot. We do need to perswade ford to do the right thing and sharing experiences is a great way to build the knowlage bank. The answere to solve this are out there and starting to come to light. I have an...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Ricatic, Question for you. mmomega asked a bout price on an HPFP. That got me thinking he was going to try to replace the HPFP before a failure. Not sure if that is the case or not it is just an assumption on my part. This poses an interesting question. If you take it to a Ford dealer for this...

I checked Tasca Parts. I think it was about 760.00. They are a ford dealer. Google them. Don't have my notes with me I'm on the road. Thanks

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

I do see your point that Ford has not let you down yet. I am sorry to say it looks like you do have a failure though. The HPFP just has not seized yet. I hope it lasts you a while but please let us know if you take it in for the repaire. You may be the first one posting about a covered repaire...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

For some reason you guy's just don't get it. It's not the fact they have a failure. It's the fact that they will not cover an HPFP failure no mater what! Again Ford can chime in here and correct me at any time! All manufactures have failures! I realize other brands brake down too. Whats your...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Follow your manual on filter changes. The kit has two filters in it. The main filter is on the frame rail of the truck below the second door on drivers side. That filter has a drain on it you need to drain some fuel out every 30 days. Inspect it for water and metal. I like to drain into a black...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

mmomega, Not trying to spook you, I am however already spooked that this could happen to me! The HPFP has a return or bypass in the system I believe. This allows some fuel to return to the tank and fuel filter. Not much chance of you getting that much aluminum from a filling station. They have...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

I agree about Government motors, that was another reason I prefer Ford. I too think it is the best truck out there. My only problem is Ford denying warranty on legitimate HPFP failure claims. There is no conceivable way that every single HPFP failure is the customers fault! You have done...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

mmomega, Rick knows his stuff. I hope you do not have a failure happening! You should probably take it in right a way and get it checked by a good Ford diesel shop. Maybe you have caught it soon enough that they just need to do the pump. Let us know what they say. I truly do not want any bad...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Well said!!! My truck is a 2011 with a 6.7. Ford builds the 6.7 in Mexico and it saves us a disappointing 10% over the cost of an american made Cummins. By the way the Cummins is a 500,000 to 1,000,000 mile motor! Now you know they save more than 10% just on taxes due to the NAFTA treaty...

To elaborate a little more on the forums and manufactures. I have some friends that run websites for various brands. Representatives from the different manufacturers have contacted them in some cases. These companies use the sites to get info on their products. We are basically test dummies for...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

mmomega, I have to chuckle just a little. You have made my point for me. You have done everything your supposed to right. But you ended up with aluminum in you fuel “maybe”. This is exactly what I have been saying. How is it your fault if you get aluminum or water in the fuel? You go to the...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

A Word of advise my friend. I learned a lot from my 6.0 days. Ford puts a lot of effort into denying claims. As I said ford actually boosted the stock HP and torque by programing the 6.0. This caused a lot of the problems like blown head gaskets. Then you had owners doing additional programing...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

Porthole said he keeps a spare cap w/drain and sensore. Not sure why you would need that if you had a Kit with you. The trick will also now remember if you have a water in fuel light. So ford will know this. I guess you will at least have clean filters?

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

I thought when you bought the factory fuel filter it all came as one unit. I just bought one from DieselfiltersOnline and just took a quick look at it and then had the dealer install it so there would be a record. Is there additional parts I should order to have on hand? Thanks

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

I know some things about the 6.0. Hope you heard the same. It was a proven platform but when Ford decided to put it in their trucks they purchased the motor only and put their own electronics and software on them. They also pumped the power up about 40 percent from navistar's production model to...

Ford 6.7L HPFP failures w/o warranty

After reading all over the net on many forums I have to express my thoughts. Bosch says the HPFP needs a scare rating of 460 or lower to reach it's expected life span. That is a fuel that is not offered in most of the US as our national standard is 520. The fact that Ford is not covering these...
