Mattress in New North Trail was very uncomfortable.

We upgraded to the pillowtop mattress as part of our purchase. Also put a foam pad on top. I actually sleep better on it than my home mattress.

    Hail Damage to my 22FBS

Not much you can do when it hails. If you know it's coming, maybe try a tarp or cover over the roof. I protected my 1970 Mustang with a canvas tent during a hailstorm when I lived in Colorado. We could hear the hail coming...only had a few minutes to get it covered. Ended up with only two...

    Bike Tie Downs

If you don't need to use the tray for anything else, try mounting a roof top type bike rack to it for the bikes. It's much more secure and will keep the bikes from getting banged up. You need the v channel type that have the fold down arms. Here's what I did...

ATF: North Trail - How do I Remove the Window Screens?

I haven't tried all of my windows but I know I have been able to slide the screen on the dinette window and the couch window.

ATF: North Trail - Wallpaper in the kitchen counter area

I had the dealer remove the wallpaper border as part of my order. I plan on installing glass tile in it's place. Since I have the solid surface counter top, figured might as well go with the real glass/ceramic tile. The smart tiles do look good though and would definitely be easier to install.

ATF: North Trail - Storage area doors.

My 22FBS also has the smaller door on the driver side. Since there isn't anything behind the wall, its just a matter of how the framing is inside the wall. I'd rather have the same large door that is on the passenger side too. I know it's in another topic, but a storage door for the slide out...

I have Trailer King ST Radials Made in China. The Frame shop recommended Maxxis.

ATF: North Trail - Axle Camber

I have a similar problem with just the rear axle on my 22FBS. Just brought my trailer back from a long winter storage and found the rear axle tires are severely worn on the inside edge. We used the trailer 3 times last year and put in it storage. The last trip was a 1,000 mile round trip and I...

ATF: North Trail - Fiberglass separation of rear wall?

Picked up the camper after the minor repair items were done and talked to the Service Manager about the rear wall fiberglass. He said the Factory told them the rear fiberglass is not laminated to the subsurface and is only attached on the perimeter. Not sure why this is done that way. The...

    Mods to the new 21FBS

Blends nicely! I bought some maple planks to make my shelves for the dinette corners, but haven't had the time to glue them together and then shape them. Hopefully, I can get to that project before the end of the camping season.

    Mods to the new 21FBS

Mods are looking great! I like the shelf idea for the bathroom sink. It's a large bathroom, and there isn't enough counter space to sit anything down. Did you use maple for the shelf?

ATF: North Trail - Fiberglass separation of rear wall?

Finally dropped my camper off at the dealer. The Service Manager wrote it up but did not say whether he thought there was a problem or not. I assumed the rear wall would be vacuum bonded like all the other sides including the roof and floor. While there, I looked at an 'Elite' model of the...

Started some mods to my 22FBS too!

Also thinking about a door on the side of the couch. There is a lot of room to store stuff but no real easy access. I know some of the models have a drawer on the front, but the flap that hangs down would be in the way. I have one more cabinet door to use.

    Mods to my 22FBS

Ouch!. We've been lucky and our dog has never torn out the screen. She's about 50 lbs so she wouldn't fit through the door. Not fun when you have to start repairs. I kept the 22" tv but replaced the tilt mount with an articulating arm so we can point it towards the couch.

Week of Camping in Michigan's Upper Penninsula

Looks nice! We might need to make reservation there. We have stayed at the old iron ore ghost town campground Fayette S.P. close to Manistique, and also St Ignace S.P..

Started some mods to my 22FBS too!

Thanks! I think my next mod will be to make some corner shelves that will just sit above the curved part of the dinette seats at each corner. I will have to glue up some Maple to get the necessary width and then cut a curve to match the cushion. I plan on sitting the shelves on an angled cleat...

Started some mods to my 22FBS too!

Yes, the Moen faucet handle was touching, so I reamed out the two holes so I could slide it a little to the right. The tip of the Hot handle just touches now, but it closes fully.

Started some mods to my 22FBS too!

One of the first things I did was to install a shelf in the cabinet under the sink. I also built a box to protect the heating duct from getting crushed. The next item was to construct a shoe storage area. I partitioned off a section under the front bed and installed a cabinet door that...

    Freebie Door Mod

This is a great tip. Finally got around to doing this. It works much better for access now. Not sure why they did it like that, but I find it a lot easier to put stuff in while standing from the side of the bed rather than kneeling on the bed.

ATF: North Trail - Fiberglass separation of rear wall?

We've had the camper for a little over 2 months and I just noticed the rear wall fiberglass pushes inward at least an inch before it touches anything solid. This appears to be the case over the entire rear wall of the camper. It's like it isn't glued to the frame. Doesn't appear to be any leaks...

ATF: North Trail - Location of low point drains for NorthTrail 22FBS?

After we got the trailer home and in the driveway, I crawled underneath and found the low point drains at the left rear corner between the skirt and frame. So it's in the same place as yours. Thanks. My water tank drain is also in the same place as yours on the 21FBS. So, the sticker was in...

ATF: North Trail - Location of low point drains for NorthTrail 22FBS?

The trailer has a sticker on the skirt just in front of the door showing the low point drains location. Both the dealer and I did not see anything protruding from the corrugated underbelly enclosure. Is this the correct location? And if so, are the drains supposed to protrude through the...

    NT 22RBS Caliber Edition

Thanks! I bought the Equalizer 1K/10K unit from adventurerv.net for $409. Regularly $579 and the dealer was selling it for $650. I really liked my old Equalizer with the 4 way sway control, and never had a problem with it for the 7 years I used it, so I am sticking with my comfort zone...

    NT 22RBS Caliber Edition

Heartland said no to the outside baggage door for the dinette. Oh well, at least I asked. Seems to me to be an easy design fix for them by framing that slideout wall with a door in mind, whether one is actually installed or not. Good news, is we get to pick up the camper on May 16th. Our...

    NT 22RBS Caliber Edition

Yea, that's what I thought. Wouldn't make sense to have one standard hitch head with different sockets for the various size spring arms...it was a nice thought though. At least I found a new complete 1K / 10K unit for $450 shipped to my house. That's $250 cheaper than the dealer has for the...

Looking at new NT Caliber in WA state

We just ordered the 22FBS Caliber Edition unit. It's 29' 6 long. We are empty nesters but wanted the option for other 'beds' with the dinette and couch. (just in case we ever get grandkids) Our current camper we are trading in, is a R-Vision Maxlite 24RS which has the rear queen slide and...

    NT 22RBS Caliber Edition

Woohoo! Completed the ordering paperwork on Saturday. The dealer did confirm the tv was 120v. Another surprise was he thought they might be able to just change the bars on my Equalizer hitch rather than me buying a complete new one. That would be a lot cheaper. I'm also having them leave off...

    NT 22RBS Caliber Edition

We just ordered the 22FBS Caliber Edition and are trading in our Maxlite 24RS. Don't need the bunks anymore since our kids have all grown and left the nest. We loved our old camper but we really like the interior layout and storage of the NT 22 FBS, but I have a few questions. Is there a 12v...
