Sorry to hear you're having trouble.
The 1st fix was to add a 2nd motor to the other jack leg.
This ended up being revised and the current fix is a heavier duty single motor with a lower gearing. This is what was installed on ours and has solved the problem. (We were told that all the new...
Why would you only lift the front of the truck and have an unlevel ride??? Common sense would have you lift the rear as well and that would increase the drive shaft angle. Thus increasing wear. (Probably not much though) Not to mention making the camper ride unlevel from the increased TV ride...
Tony, as you can see from my signature, we also have an "08 4012 and pull with a "06 Dodge 3500 dually CTD. The 4012 is heavy, but the Dodge pulls it fine. As stated before, you just have to take your time and give plenty of braking room. You'd do that pulling any sizable trailer anyway...
As...
Driver, the tire store was telling him he needed a lift to clear the 285's. So they're spot on with the drive line angle change. You're totally right though if he was just going to add the taller tires, but I guess they won't fit without the suspension lift. How about a body lift though Pug? No...
Yeah, great story!
Very nice to hear how Heartland stands up for it's customers time and time again. With a lot of other manufacturers, I'm sure you would have been stuck for quite a few days cutting through the "red tape".
And way to go Larry's RV! In a perfect world, all dealers would treat...
Heartland has realized that they under powered the front jack motors. They have a fix out now for this problem. If you take your unit to your dealer, Heartland with send a new more powerful Atwood motor with a lower gear reduction. I've had all the problems stated above and this fixed it...
Ok, finally got the 4012 back from our dealer and we're back from a long weekend camping with it. Our dealer did construct some flashing behind the vent to catch the rain water and direct it out the bottom of the vents. He said, from the factory, it had some "burlap" with silicon caulk smeared...
Heard from the dealer. Said they are going to try making a better flashing set up behind the fridge vents to catch the rain and funnel it back out. I'll post back if this works.
Please post back if you figure anything out.
Talked to my dealer again yesterday and they still don't have any answers yet.... If it comes back and leaks again this time, that will be 3 failed tries in a row for them.... I don't have much faith.:(
I had a "05 F350, 6.0 and had the same trouble. What a lemon of a truck! Traded it on my "06 Ram CTD and there is no comparison. Awesome truck! Pulls my 4012 with no problem.
The Ford got 11 mpg empty. The Dodge gets 21 empty and around 11 pulling the 4012....
I was told the same thing. They under rate to give a good amount of safety margin.
Last year at the PA show, I spent a good hour talking to one of the reps (we talked about racing and campers more than anything) and he told me the weight they really test them to and at what point they started...
This thread is a little dated, but I would like to add my opinion about B&W. I have had their "Turn over Ball" hitch in my last 3 trucks (6 years worth of use) and the Companion 5er in my newest truck for a year now. I can't say enough about what a great product they make and their commitment to...
I know this is an old post (I haven't been on here in quite a while) but I wanted to tell our story. Greg told us that we could take credit for all the future Cyclones having the upgraded 6k axles and 16's. See, we met Greg and Dave at the Hershey show and discussed in great detail the weak...
My wife is the one who started this thread. We're still having trouble with this water leak. Camper is at the dealer right now and they still don't know how to fix this. They told us we needed some missing flashing behind the fridge vents, but then they realized it was already flashed...
That's exactly what I've planned on doing for a year now. Just haven't got around to it yet. Awesome job! Glad someone had the same idea I did and it worked. I was worried about adding more weight to an already heavy ladder....
That clevis pin is a good idea. We've never had ours uncrank though.
We had a problem with ours was after dragging it coming in and out of entrances. The two rails that the spare and bins slid on bent and bowed out to the point where the back of the bins were falling out and hanging down. The...
I've thought about doing the same and looked into the possibility...
Seems to me if you had a hitch installed they would have to "beef up" the rear most cross member where the hitch would attach. There's not much steel back there... I'm sure it wouldn't support much tongue weight.
We are still having the water leak from under the fridge during rain storms. Deal told me ours must be missing some kind of flashing and they would fix it, but now they tell me it is flashed corectly.... They said there was a crack in the caulk above the top vent. This amount of water is not...
Well, from our experience with the factory, this upgrade has never been done before on a Cyclone. I too had heard of people doing it with some of the other Heartland lines, but not the Cyclone. That is one of the things I used as persuasion to get our upgrade...
It seems that the different...
I just got an email from my buddy, David Porter, the Eastern RSM for Cyclone/Razor. He has informed me our Cyclone 4012 will be rolling off the line this morning and will get it's final inspection and cleaning today! We should be hearing from our dealer Monday or Tuesday next week to schedule...
caddojay,
Well, our tire/wheel/axle upgrade took a lot of talking to get done. We were also told by a few dealers that it couldn't be done. So I bypassed them and went straight to the factory. They listened and after a lot of back and forth talk agreed to accommodate us.
The good news for...
I have 4 Loadstar's on my 30' flat bed equipment trailer and have overloaded them many times without any trouble. I guess it's because I'm not traveling very far and that keeps the heat down??? So far (2 years) they've been good tires.....
You're right they're E's rated for 3500 lb @ 90 psi...
I know this might be kind of late, but I researched this for you and came up with a Dexter/Lippert spec. to torque the spring to axle u-bolt nuts to 50-60 ft-lb. This was an Adobe file so I could not cut and past but here's the link if you would like to read...
We ordered our Cyclone with the factory slide awnings too. I agree that adding these after market (if installed properly) should not void any warranty.
kakampers,
What do you make of that resent post with the link about the G614's having tread separation problems and GY stopping production of them? Is this in the past and GY has now fixed the problem? I've got a e-mail into GY and haven't heard back from them yet. We've ordered our Cyclone...
I think this is what you're looking for: http://www.lci1.com/Service%20Owners%20Manuals/Hydraulic%20Slideouts%20and%20Leveling/Electronic%20Hydraulic%20Leveling%20and%20Slideout-Web.pdf
Hope that helps.
I just received and installed the Companion in my truck. I already had the Turn Over Ball, because I have a goose neck equipment trailer I pull. Anyway, the shipping weight on just the Companion was 205 lb. I don't know what the Turn Over weighed, but I would guess 150 lb or so.
The quality...
That's great news grandseahawk!
After reading your post I talked to our awesome east cost Facrtory Rep David Porter. We too have a 4012 on order, in fact David told me it was scheduled to start being built next week. He said you were 100% right. The 4012 will now come with dual 45 gal grays...
