Would love to attend (you can see my birth place from the mountain) however, due to the fact that we have kids in school, the dates just don't work for us.
We spent Thanksgiving week at the park last year and had a great time. May go Thanksgiving week again this year.
You guys have a great...
I get better mileage with my 37' 13k+ Big Country than I did with my 8K 32' TT. I believe it has a lot to do with wind resistance. Because the 5er sits partly over the rear of the truck both setups ended up being about the same overall pulling length. I believe that the wind treats the truck...
I have the Big Country 3490 and have not experienced this problem. Tank fills all the way to the top and shows empty when the pump will no longer pump.
I always keep the full tank not in use turned off that way I always know when the in use tank is empty. I open the valve to the full tank and make it a point to fill the empty one.
That's is one of those times you wished you had a camera handy. I'm still trying to picture in my head how that would be done. Could you tell what kind of support structure was in place?
Scott, Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying about the coating coming off over time. In my case I bought my unit new a little over a month ago. Should I be expecting this to happen this early?
Black coating coming off the bottom of the slide exposing wood
Scott, what about the black coating coming off the bottom of the slide exposing wood that has also been mentioned? I too am having this problem on my bedroom slide. Thanks. James
Forrest, I think you are talking about the level that mounts on the pin. I have bought one of these but have not yet installed it because I am not sure I am going to keep the stock pin - chucking issues.
I really was asking about the level with the four legs that Jim and Cooper were talking...
Maybe this thread on RV.NET will releave some concerns about factory support.

TriMas Corporation (NYSE: TRS - News) -- a diversified growth company of high-end, specialty niche businesses -- today announced that its Cequent Towing Products group has expanded its fifth wheel product offerings through the acquisition...
We are on our first trip with the new 3490. Dropped the landing gear and started jacking up the front. One of the pins did not set properly, went to adjust it and the weld holding the pin tube in place came lose leaving me holding the pin in my hand.
I pushed the pin through and wrapped in...
We are on our first trip with our BC 3490. I too was concerned after we decided to buy and then found this forum. Thought I had made a big mistake. Nothing could be further from the truth. We love this unit.
If you really like bridges you need to head way down south to New Orleans and drive over the Causeway Bridge. It is the longest bridge in the world with 24 miles of it over water (its a lake so I guess it is not considered open water).
Tundra Fire Extinguisher by First Alert
Picked one of these up at Wal-mart. Supposed to spray 3 to 4 times longer than conventional extinguishers and clean up requires only paper towels.
Saw this demonstrated on local news by Dallas FD. They highly recommended them. Much easier to use and...
I thought I had read somewhere that Heartland used only formaldehyde free products. I know my Big Country floorplan and specifications sheet mentions "R-14 Formaldehyde Free Insulation".

Called Kara back at Trailair. She confirmed that the Rota-Flex addressed only chucking and the air pin is designed to eliminate the diving board effect. Seems like the 5th airbourne is the only unit that claims to address both.
We will be taking the first trip in the BC a week from tomorrow...
Just got off the phone with Trailair about the Rota-Flex. Asked if the unit really helped with chucking. The woman I spoke with said the difference is unbelievable. Of course I expected nothing less in a response from a sales person. Anyway quoted me a price of $645.00 plus $85.00 shipping...
After posting I did a search and saw a response from Scott on another model. He said that they try to center it as much as possible over the axle on all the models. Had hoped it would be a little more to the rear but you can't have everything. Thanks.
Where is the fresh water tank physically located in the 3490BHS? If I add water to the tank am I increasing or decreasing my pin weight? We will be loading alot of stuff forward of the axles so I am hoping that the tank is to the rear of the axels so I can use it as a ballast.
Thanks - James
Have any of you guys tried the "2 bags of Ice" method? After dumping stop and buy two bags of ice and dump into tank. The trip home moves the ice around the tank breaking up any solids. Just need a place to do one more flush of the tank. Then add water and chemicals for storage. Was...
Jim,
I also have the Trailer-Aid that I used with my old TT. I planned on using it with my new BC but was told on rv.net that with heavier trailers this could damage the good tire (good tire trying to raise 4500-5000lbs). What is your take on this? Any response from the factory on using...
As I read more posts on the forum I understand the polling a little better. I am used to most polls being inflated that is why I would have expected more 5's. If 4 is "about as good as it gets" and 5 would be "this thing walks on water" then my fears are eased considerably. I usually dismiss...
The wait is over! 3490 BHS sitting in the driveway. Mike Snow (Service Manger at ExploreUSA) was awesome. So was our salesman Harmon. Very few issues during walk thru - table was a little scratched up (Mike is ordering another) and plugin for the air matress sofa had not been installed. And...
I spoke with the service manager where I am buying my Big Country. He said he had not heard of the support problem but that the issue of not being able to fill the tank was very common among all manufacturers. He said filling the tank and checking the venting was part of their checkout...
Wow! Looking at the polling results I'm a little concerned. In most polls you factor in ownership pride. I would have expected to see a number of 5's and there were none. I am supposed to pick up my Big Country this week - now I am wondering if I have made a mistake.
