To gain access to the evap coil, you’ll need to remove the cover on the unit and separate the foam cover over the coil. Once you do that, you’ll be able to give it a real cleaning. I’d bet money your blower is covered in gross mold that gets damp when the unit is running and stinks up the place...
Open the kitchen faucet inside, then go out and see what your regulator pressure shows. I’m betting it’s not the pressure regulator but plugged filters. You have good static pressure but no volume once you open something up.
Had the Carefree type on my previous 5th wheel and they leaked rusty water from the ends and sagged when it rained. Went with the Solera brand on the Bighorn and they’ve held up well fulltiming in the South Texas sun for 2 years. Solera has my vote.
My first 5th wheel was a Sundance. Did the exact same thing and it turned out to be a hairline crack in the skylight. It would leak water when it rained. Give that thing a thorough cleaning outside and inspect it close.
I looked on amazon for that part number and it looks like it’s a 35mm cartridge. Looks to be between 10 and 25 bucks depending on who it’s purchased from. Thanks for taking the time to share some pics!
I have the same faucet with the identical leak your experiencing haha. Haven’t gotten around to looking at it just yet, but if no one chimes in I’ll take a look at mine and see what the correct process is to remove the cartridge. Can you tell where it’s leaking from while it’s still together?
Verify that there is caulking on the side of the D seals. It’s common for caulk to be missing down the sides of these and water will come in just as you describe.
I had a unit get funky like that. Depending on the unit, you’ll need to gain access to the evaporator and blower. It’s filled with gunk and most likely mold from being damp. My blower was full of dirt and mildew looking stuff and wreaked when the unit would come on. Buy a good coil cleaner from...
I purchased them direct from Micro-Air. My post was really in reference to running 3 ac units together on 50 amp service utilizing the easy start setup and how great they work and not just running 2 on gen power. They work as advertised for lowering your starting amperage draw to get the units...
You’d have to either look through your paperwork on your trailer or call heartland to determine that. The Blizzard units a pretty quiet as is, but redoing the box and ductwork with tape reduced the turbulent air noise further.
For those curious about this product, I installed the Easy Start kits on my Bighorn 3970 and am able to run 3 Dometic Blizzard NXT units on 50 amp shore power without any issues. The Bighorn came with 2 ac units but the south Texas heat has been unrelenting and I decided to upgrade one unit that...
It’s a good idea, although none of mine have ever had it behind the seals. I would suspect that it makes them easier to replace as they don’t last long when exposed to the sun. Just a good bead of caulk on the side and generous blob on the top seems to keep the water out.
Your very welcome. Just work your way through the connections. Now is a good time to invest in a quality voltage tester if you don’t have one. Work your way from the unit all the way back to the fuse panel. The thermostat worked on the bedroom ac after you swapped so you can rule that out.
If they’re blizzard units which I suspect they are as I have the same model unit, remove the shroud over the unit, then remove the upper cover over the evaporator and blower. All your wiring will then be exposed. You can check to verify 12v power is supplied to the controller and your getting...
The controller is located in the front of the ac unit along with the 12volt and RJ11 4 contact telephone cord data cable. You’ll have to remove the shroud on the air conditioning unit to access those. Sounds like you’ve lost power up top, the controller went bad or your data cable has issues...
Mine did that. The check valve was allowing the pressure to bleed off the pump and caused it to cycle every few seconds. Being as the pump itself is fine, I installed a new inline check valve from Lowes. Problem solved.
I’ve had both carefree and dometic. My vote is dometic. The carefree toppers dripped rusty water out of the ends occasionally and my larger slide required a center support which wound up being one made for a dometic topper as it was easier to purchase. When I purchased the new BH I had the...
Re: Slides won’t retract
Well it’s fixed👍 One of the valves controlled by the new style solenoids apparently hung up so instead of routing the fluid to the slides, all I got was movement in the leveling feet. I swapped solenoids first with no success, verified good voltage when powered so I...
Re: Slides won’t retract
Yeah I’m trying to figure out why non of them will budge. The pump is running fine, battery voltage is good but only the legs retract or extend...using the switch meant to bring the slides in or out lol. I looked at all the fuses and they look fine too.
Hey folks,
Searched the threads but didn’t have any success with my issue. I had to do some work outside my dining room slide so I closed off all the valves but it. Went to retract the slide and the front jacks started retracting when I hit the switch! When I depressed the switch to extend the...
Mine failed the first time used. It started billowing smoke and smelled of burned insulation. Dealer wanted me to bring the whole smash in to verify it was the microwave and not the wiring in the bighorn. Being rather handy and a tinkerer, I took it off it’s mounts and quickly realized it was...
You can pull the bottom part of the vent off fairly easy. I’m going to do the same on my 3970. I’ll move the fantastic fan to the bathroom. I pulled the lower section off to verify framing and it’s there. Think I’m gonna tie into the existing ductwork as it’s right there. Keep us posted on your...
Harbor Freight carries a small 110v compressor and tank. It’s been a great addition for doing the tires on truck and trailer. I also bought a small 12v compressor there for on the fly adjustments of my trailaire hitch.
Agree 100%! My satellite wouldn’t work at all routed through the udc but worked fine if I ran the coax direct. I bought a box of the new connectors along with a coax tester. Tested the plugs underneath and they all failed. Replaced all the connectors and presto all coax throughout showed to be...
Dave is spot on! I had care free toppers on my last unit and had to increase the tension on one because it sagged and that’s the method I used. If it’s a longer slide, there are slide topper supports you can purchase to stop it from sagging when it rains hard. That’s ultimatly what I did because...
Yeah I’m familiar with making sure the surface is clean before applying. J-wrap is the bottom portion around the edge of most travel trailers. For the most part it’s not a sealed gloss finish, but more a matte finish. Not sure what diamond plate your referring to as that’s not what I’m concerned...
Getting ready to wash and wax my Bighorn. I’ve used Eagle One wax on the sides and j-wrap and it looks good. Wanting a little better protection from the south Texas sun so I purchased a couple bottles of Rejex. Is the Rejex ok to apply to the j-wrap or should I not apply it there because of its...
I know the feeling! It’s a pain and I full time too so dropping off at the selling dealership hours away wasn’t gonna happen. The parts a really inexpensive so if you do end up doing it yourself, it won’t break the bank.
Traded in my ‘16 model that had a suburban stove/oven combo that did the same thing new. You can try replacing the thermocouple for a few bucks to start, although that’s probly not it. The Suburban pilot light orafice came too small from the factory and when the oven heats up, it pinches that...
Underneath the fridge slide outside is a valve to drain out the water line to winterize. You could crack that open a smidge to verify the water is reaching there. If so then follow that line around to where it goes up through the floor and the backside of the fridge. It may be kinked there...
I purchased a 2018 BH 3970 and that’s exactly what was on my roof, top of the slides and around the windows. That caulking whatever it was, flaked and pulled off with little effort. I redid the entire roof and slides with dicor. Probly could have taken it to the dealership but it’s done...
