Poor satellite reception & Winegard data cable. Things to look at.

Hope this may help some of you. First, I had trouble locating the controller end of theWinegard data cable. Well unfortunately, the cable was exactly where the plans said it would be, on the opposite (passenger side) of the 5th wheel instead of where the TV amplifier is located on driver’s...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

Well, I found the cable and it's right where Heartland plans showed it was; on the opposite side of the front closet, which I found by pulling out a front shelving unit and moving insulation...argh The annoying part is; instead of having the 6 ft of coiled cable (according to their plans)...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

Thanks for the picture. It looks a lot like what I will have to do. I'm almost positive I will need to get an extension for the data cable. Did you? Thanks again. Lowflyr

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

I thought that at first, but if you look at the drawings, one says top view, other inside view. I do have the blank plate in the ceiling and the data and TV cables are coiled there, so I know the data cable is installed, it's just where they placed it in the front of rig. I'm going to look...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

Just my luck.. that's not there. Hopefully it's just inside the wall close. Will be ticked if I have to do a bunch of panel removing! Lowflyr - - - Updated - - - According to the roof plans Heartland sent me; they ran the cable to the wrong side which would be the opposite closet area where...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

My next struggle, finding the other end of the data cable, which according to Heartland, is behind the front booster plate in the closet. I pulled the plate and looked inside, but did not see it. May have to get an endoscope to be able to look better in there. Was your cable easy to find...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

I may try and place the dish like you have yours TravelTiger, providing I have the clearances. You can see by the attached pics where my current Tailgater sits and there is only 48" between the front AC and the bathroom vent. Hopefully, i can kind of "split the baby" and place it to the right...

    Satellite placement on the roof

Hi again. If I do have to extend it, I would use a longer cord and do the connection so it would be in the attic, not outside and the wires would be soldered, shrink wrapped. The exposed wires on the roof would be covered with the Eternabond tape. Just hate having to do it, if I can help it...

    Satellite placement on the roof

Sorry, I apparently grabbed the quote, that I did not intend to from the original author. I did read about the 32.5" diameter and here is the actual quote from the Winegard instructions. "The minimum roof space required for the TRAV’LER antenna is 43” L x 24” W. a. The operational space...

Winegard Trav'ler roof location? Extending data cables? 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel

Greetings everyone! I just ordered a Winegard Trav'ler SK 1000 satellite dish for my 2015 RL3150 Big Country 5th wheel and in looking at the location where the backing plate is located (between front AC and bathroom vent), I will not be able to locate it there according to Winegard clearance...

    Satellite placement on the roof

Hello. I have a 2015 Big Country RL3150 and have ordered a Winegard Trav'ler but will have the same issue, with not enough room between the front air conditioner and bathroom vent. Could you possibly send me a couple photos of where you mounted it? Thank You, Lowflyr

Converting Scare Lights on remote to regular switches?

I have a 2015 Big Country with the two large outside "scare" lights on each side. I'm not a big fan of the remote, which is set up to turn on both lights at the same time. I would love to wire these two lights into switches inside the camper, like they used to have them.. I know they had it...

Where can I order the Sikken paint for my RV?

I ran into a similar situation here in NW Montana. I just wanted to have some touchup paint for my 2015 Big Country. I contacted Heartland Service where they confirmed, they do not provide touchup paint for their RV's (they need to reconsider this). They did however immediately email me the...

    Mounting max airs II's

I did not take any photos of my install, which included cutting off all four of the brackets (I knew it would not have been centered otherwise). I personally think Dexter did this intentionally (installed mounting brackets) so you could only by their products. I would hope Max Air will quickly...

    Mounting max airs II's

I also was frustrated to see the same issue when I went to install my Maxx cover. What I did was I took my sonic cutter tool and just cut away the 4 brackets without cutting into the fame itself, then did the basic install. Only other thing I had to do was get 1/2" longer screws to go through...
