The video the comment was made about was a travel trailer tipping over in a high wind situation. Go ahead and add all the variables you want to squew the conversation your way. Why stop at mountains or corners? Let's add Lahars and Aliens we're running from to spice it up a bit.
This whole...
In windy conditions weight is your friend. What tips over easier, a full can of soda or an empty one? Same surface area.
For conventional towing if your trailer is going over the number of wheels your truck has matters little. With a fifth wheel the wider footprint would help.
Also I've heard...
You've taught yourself a very valuable lesson. One you most likely won't forget. I've been running LTL city routes up and down I-5 in western Washington for 10 years. My genius company sends me on residential deliveries in my 13'6" 48' trailer. Interstates, highways and the lion's share of city...
My wife had a Durango do the same thing so I replaced the U-joints. The sound did not go away so I did some more investigating. It turned out to be one of the bushings on a rear shock squeaking. I slathered it in grease and problem was solved. I'm not saying this is your issue but perhaps...
I know I'm late to the party but wouldn't that trailer be over the trucks tow limit? Best info I can find is that truck has a 15,700lbs 5th wheel capacity.
My stepfather pulls a 37 foot fifth wheel with a 2012 Chevy 2500HD with the gas engine and 3.73 gears.
I asked him how much it weighs. He didn't know. That truck with those gears is only rated to tow 9500lbs, it goes up to 13,000lbs with the 4.10 rear end. I guess he doesn't care cause the...
Excellent reply and thank you for taking the time to do so. I'll stick with what I have then. I just bought the truck a month ago so getting a new one really isn't an option. Not unless I want to get divorced. The truck is not a daily driver. It's mainly just there to pull the TT and the wife...
Sounds like RPM's are the key to any of these brakes working. I don't recall the engine speed when I tried mine but I seriously doubt it was anywhere near 3000. Guess I'll have to try the factory one out more on my 2011 before I spend $600 on the BD one. The chart I saw from the BD brake showed...
Yeah there's no button or knob anywhere on the truck. The only reason I know the factory one exhausts on the older 6.7's is cause a guy at work who knows a lot about all things Ford told me about it.

That was kind of the answer I expected. Thank you. I'll most likely get...
Apologizes if this has been addressed already. I searched for the subject and found nothing.
To the guys here who have the Ford 6.7 how is the factory engine brake? It's my understanding that to engage it you need to be in tow/haul and simply depress the brake, perhaps with a bit of force. I...
Thank you. I've put about 100 empty miles on it so far and am beyond in love with it. Was getting about 19mpg Highway too till last night it hit regen and dropped the average to 17mpg. The best the Ram 1500 ever got was 15mpg. I may park my commuter car for a few weeks and enjoy the 60 mile a...
Just a small update. We finally got around to taking the TT out for its first trip. I was really unimpressed by how theRam 1500 pulled it. Every slight hill was a struggle. It would downshift and lose speed. Plus the truck only got 9mpg on a drive to the coast. I drive LTL for a living and am...
The payload on that truck is only about 1270lbs. Figure in 600 for the TT, 100 for the WDH, that leaves 570 for me, wife and 2 kids. So going over the trucks payload by a few pounds is probably unavoidable. However fully loaded the trailer is still 600lbs under trucks tow capacity. I know...
Thanks for the reply. I'm sure it'll be fine. I just tend to be cautious. I've gone on Dodge Ram forums and most everyone there tends to make it sound like I'm attempting to pull 40,000lbs with my 1/2 ton. This also coming from people who've probably never pulled a TT. Good to hear opinions...
The factory weight sticker on the trailer said it weighs 5996lbs empty and has a gvwr of 7000lbs with a little over 600lbs of tongue weight. The dealer threw in (although I'm sure I paid for it somehow) a 1000lbs weight distribution hitch. I don't plan on ever towing it with the water tanks...
Wait. I'm an idiot. You meant Tow Vehicle. Sorry. I have two to choose from. A 2000 F250 with the V10 and a 2004 Ram 1500 5.7 QC. I'd prefer to use the Ram cause it has lower miles and I trust it more. However it has 3.55 gears. I'm seriously considering swapping those out for 4.11's
The one it came with in the living room is some knock off brand I don't recall the name. Looks to be about 28-32 inch. I haven't even picked up the trailer to add the bedroom TV yet.
