Salina, Ks. K-4 Trailer and RV (Heartland Dealer)

After struggling with my gasoline generator for several years I decided to switch to a propane portable unit that would better suit what I use a generator for. I knew that my shop was not equipped to remove the 300lb genset without damaging my Cyclone so I went to a local trailer/RV dealer. I...

I am a big baby and switching to a propane generator.

I admit to being lazy and not dumping fuel and monitoring the fuel stabilizer balances correctly, I do run the generator at least once a month. During the summer is when I use it to run the A/C when traveling only. The only other time I use the genny is to run my air compressor in remote...

Onan 5500 Marquise Gold generator for sale(SOLD)

I am tired of dealing with "sour fuel" issues. Selling my 5500 Onan Marquese Gold generator from my Cyclone, it has 55.4 hours on it. It has only been used while traveling to keep the A/C running. I have attempted nearly every Sta-bil type product on the planet to no avail and I am tired of...

The perfect tow vehicle (for me)

I just finished my final "must have" modification on my truck, a 60 gallon RDS aux. tank/toolbox combo. I have previously modified the brakes, rear leaf springs, 4.30:1 rear end assembly, and added airbags. I just loaded the trailer for travel with a golf cart and four wheeler, food and...

Bugs, or no bugs, a product endorsement.

I was doing my "housekeeping" by vaccuming and cleaning out the basement and storage areas on my Cyclone. I noticed that for the first year ever, I have not had any spiderwebs or dead bugs behind the basement walls (plumbing electrical chases) or in any restricted areas like under couches or...

    Aux. fuel tank advice

After 2 close calls in the last month I have decided to bite the bullet and get an auxillary tank for my F350. I am going to get a bed mountable fuel tank/tool box combo so I can move it to whatever tow vehicles I have in the future, and I am looking for some advice from people that have...

BalX chock and similar device warning

I had a pretty good scare that may help out somebody else. I started the day in Kansas and drove in 90 degree temperatures and stopped in Estes Park Colorado. I chocked up the wheels on both sides and unhooked the trailer and leveled everything up and all was fine. When I started to hook up I...

Estes Park Co. to Central City Co. via Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park

We are planning a quick "loop" through Colorado and are looking for some roads we have not seen yet. Colorado rte. 72 the peak to peak highway thru the national park looks like an interesting route from Estes Park to Central City. According to my wife I will drive down roads not meant to be...

A new record for terrible milage

Last Friday I was going to try a tow/haul button experiment on a quick 277 mi run from Salina Ks. to Oklahoma City. On Friday there was a constant wind out of the south at 35mph. Driving into the wind at 60 mph (keeping rpm under 2k) I got 3.1 mpg. On Sunday I drove home with no wind at 60 mph...

Do airbags have any effect on tires?

I have often wondered if airbags effect tires in any manner. As when the bags are inflated with the trailer attatched, the ride is smoother. I know the roads are still rough so are the tires taking the beating instead of the springs? or are the airbags just more efficient in smoothing out the jolts.

    Oklahoma City campgrounds

We are going to spend a weekend in OKC at a cat show at the state fairgrounds near downtown. I have been looking online at campgrounds and the reviews do not look promising. I have stayed at the KOA east of town but was hoping somebody has stayed closer to downtown with a favorable review...

    Measuring axle spacing

I have read on several forums about measuring the spacing of the axels to determine allignment of the axles. I am wondering if this is a valid method unless the axles are unloaded from all weight so that weight and suspension geometry are taken out of the equasion. I have measured my axles...

    G614 vs. Michelin XPS rib

Due to an unforutunate fence post incident I am currently replacing passsenger side tires on my Cyclone. I am currently running Michelin xps ribs (235/85/16) with stock (80psi) aluminum rims. I have had conversations with other campers that love the xps but have advised of sun drying, or...

    Slide switch relocation

Has anybody else added a rocker switch to operate the slides from the garage area? I have a very tight storage area that I cannot open the front door to get to the switch, but I can open the garage door. I guess I am looking for the simplest way to get the wiring back into the garage area, any...

Pulling into Branson with 5r attatched

We are planning a quick weekend trip to Branson Mo. My wife wants to pull into town and make a few stops before we go to the campgrounds. I looked at Google Earth and Branson does not look to 3912 friendly, are there any attractions that are easily accessable to large RVs? I am pretty...

    Heartland/SOB quality

I build truck washes for a living, so I see a lot of RVs being washed. When I hear the owners of most brands of RVs give special instructions to the wash employees, I hear "don't spray the the window or the doors or the water will soak the inside of the trailer" and I hear this nearly every day...

I am getting ready for the upcoming "season" and I am looking for ways to stabilize my cyclone, I am thinking of getting some X style chocks to lock in the tires. First, does anybody use these for stabilization, and second do I need 4 sets to lock in all six wheels? We do a lot of one or...

    Replacement Tires

I am starting to look for replacement tires for my 08 F350 srw. The truck had Continentals from the factory (gone in 30k miles). Front cap damage

While cleaning up trailer I have located some damage to my nose cap. There is a gouge in the fiberglass and the door side front wrap around decal is torn. Winterizing without anti-freeze?

Our neighborhood has become unfriendly in regard to storage of campers so I have to store my cyclone at work (indoors) but no land line power to keep the interior above freezing this winter. We will go out camping multiple times this winter and I do not want to have to have to winterize the...

I am currently running 235/80/16 I found a tire shop that is selling Michellin XPS rib E load range at a very good price, but they are 235/85/16. Vent Cover Damage

I have been blessed by the midwest thunderstorms and hail (3 times). The only damage suffered each time was the manual roof vent covers. Water pressure regulator settings

I have purchased an 09 Cyclone 3912 and love it. I am new to 5th wheel camping and just figuring things out.
