    BigHorn or the competition?

I'm glad that this thread has turned into a good discussion! Ray, thanks for your insider-comments and education! There are certainly some build-quality and component issues to consider here. I've only had the opportunity to see one BH in person. I was immediately put off by the white 'wagon...

    BigHorn or the competition?

I am diligently educating myself with all things RV. Of course, I have a champaigne taste and a more "beer-like" budget. I love the Landmark, but it is outside my price range. I really like the Carriage Cameo, but it's on the fringe of my price range..I could swing it, but not comfortably. So...

    Tow Vechicle II

Jayc, if you'll scroll back up to my comment on the mystery switch, I did refer to it as "un-authorized"...and personally, I don't condone it. As far as warranty goes, you and I would both be in hot water if we didnt remove our "boxes of fun" before a service, wouldn't we? LOL On the Allison...

    Tow Vechicle II

Charles, the pushers with the Allison/jake combo are wonderful!! Please don't be sucked in and think that the GM pickup with the Allison is of the same caliber. That gearbox is stamped "light duty" and is built specifically for the pickup application only. Now, if they were the 5 or 6 speed...

    Tow Vechicle II

Towing lesson #1: Pull with a manual gearbox. (How many auto. semis do you see?) Towing lesson #2: Get an exhaust brake. Towing lesson #3: Go to this site for any Dodge Cummins info you'd want: www.tdr1.com Also, you're idea about the Kodiac truck is OK, but the CAT motor wont make any...

A New Truck to pull my new Landmark?

I fear you would be in big trouble with the Montecello, both physically and legally. The F350 is going to have a GVW of 18k. That means the truck + trailer + load = 18k. If the GVW printed on the sticker on the side of the trailer reads 18k, you're going to be stuck on the side of the road in...

    Heartland Landmark Pricing Worksheet

Still curious about the BigHorn pricing sheets...any news? Also, I wonder if the Big Horn can be ordered with MorRide, alloys, disk brakes, etc....?

A New Truck to pull my new Landmark?

I see that you're from TX....try buying a Mexican Dodge!! They have a BIG ram down there...like an F550-650 only it looks like the Ram...just bigger! See if you can talk the boss into an F650, that way you can get the 5.9 Cummins engine like the Dodge pickup. You can order any wheelbase you...

    Universal Docking Station Diagram

I looked at a new Cambridge coach (made by Keystone) last weekend. It also has a docking station with soap dispensor, paper towel rack, etc....but wasnt nearly as well done as the Heartland. I did like the barn doors for the basement...that was pretty cool!

A New Truck to pull my new Landmark?

The big problem there is (and this will step on some toes), although the F450-550 is enough truck to pull the trailer, the engine will leave you less than thrilled. Buy an MDT with a Cummins in it...a straight-6, like a real truck. More power, more economy, less cost of operation, fewer moving...

    Disk Brakes

I visited my local dealership last weekend and saw 3 Landmarks and 1 Bighorn. They also carry Teton, so it was nice to see them side-by-side...anyway, I was a bit disappointed to see drum brakes...even on the Landmark. I sure love some of the innovative features on the Heartland products like...

    New 3500 Dodge Cummins

Congrats, nemo! Now, don't worry about a thing in that Cummins truck...here's a couple pieces of diesel truck advice: 1. There is no "break-in with your new Cummins other than loading it to the max and hitting the steepest hill you can find ...over and over and over!! This is the "proper way...
