    Two Wolves

TWO WOLVES One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. "One is Evil - It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority...

That's one great looking rig, love the color - and NO UREA TANK. You are wise to get the dually, upgrading won't be any problem now. Congrats, enjoy the ride.

You know the economy is bad when ......

How you know the Economy is in the Dump I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail. When I ordered a burger at McDonald's , the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?" CEO's are now playing miniature golf. If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient...

    Small town court

Lawyers should never ask a question if they aren’t prepared for the answer. At a trial in a small southern Mississippi town that shall go unnamed, the prosecuting attorney calls his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you...

    Ten Commandments - Southern version

Ten Commandments Some people have trouble with all those 'shall's' and 'shall not's' in the Ten Commandments. Folks just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, in middle Tennessee they translated the 'King James' into ' Jackson County ' language.....no joke (posted on the wall at Cross...

Newbie Quesion about Stopping for Gas When Hitched

    Speed Brake

I don't know about the Banks unit, but the PacBrake PRXB on the 02 Dodge is BY FAR the best money I have spent for any accessory. With the 13K# Bighorn descending 7% grades, I actually lose speed without using the service brakes. There is no way I would tow in the high country without an...

    Forum header

The new forum design is a nice change. My question concerns the new "header" section (all forums, general, etc.) It always defaults to the "general" header which omits some of the sections (Around the Campfire). I like to view all the forums and select the "all forums" to display them. However...

    Buying a new truck

I drive Al Gore's worst nightmare. An 02 Dodge Cummins with 43K miles that has not a hint of any EPA mandated enviormental crap. The 02 was the last year that came from the factory without EGR, catalytic converter, particle filter or (ghast!!) Urea. The transmission is a cast iron cased manual...

    06 lbz durmax glowplug problem

Just goes to show how mechanically challenged I am. I thought they didn't use glow plugs any longer. My 02 Cummins uses something called a grid heater instead. Sure can see the volt meter drop when you turn the key watching the "wait to start" light go out. Knock on wood, haven't had problem...

Wish I could have met Jake Lindsey

While sitting beside the fire with 6 inches of snow outside (rare for south MS), I was rummaging through some photos I took last summer on one of many motorcycle day rides. One of those rides took me through Clara, MS, a rural community in the southeastern part of the state. I happened to stop...

    Best Differential Fluid

+1 on the Mag-Hytec cover. I changed to it on the Dodge a year after buying the truck. I changed out the original fluid to Royal Purple 75W-140 when installing the new cover. Just be sure your oil has the friction modifier if you have a limited slip differential. I think all the synthetics have...

    Drew Barrymore's Rv trip video

I've been to Nawlins a bunch of times (it's only 100+miles from here). I know I've seen that guy in the gown and pearls down there. I bet the tale of the RV at the gas station relates to a lot of folks. Thanks for sharing.

    Geaux saints!!!

Being from south MS, I have always pulled for the Saints even when they were the Aints, brown bags, etc. I always wondered how nuts New Orleans would go if they ever had a winning team. Now I know - "IT'S PARTY TIME, GEAUX SAINTS !!!" Still want to know which team sign Archie has in his yard...

    Duramax Chevelle

It amazes me how they build transmissions and differentials to withstand that kind of power. Banks Engineering shoehorned a Cummins 5.9L ISB into a Dodge Dakota a couple years back. It topped out at 212 MPH at Bonneville as I recall. I understand they are building a DuraMax for a dragster...

    Seniors (don't mess with them)

SMART *** Two businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves set up. One said to the other, "I bet any minute now some senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what...

    Tire Pressures, where to fill

Our PacBrake PRXB on the Dodge has an onboard air compressor that supplies 125 PSI to operate the brake. It also has a "quick connector" under the hood and comes with a coiled 25' hose and fittings. I use it to top off the TV and BH tires as needed. Very convenient and always handy - no bulky...

    The Scorpion

I just can't get my mind wrapped around what an "internal exhaust" is. Cummins has the patent on the thing. Guess Ford is paying Cummins a fee to use it.

    Electric Brake Controller

We have been using the Tekonsha Prodigy since 2003. Used it on the previous Montana and now on the BH. It works great and never had a problem. I read somewhere that Tekonsha manufactures Ford's integrated unit. I'll have to see if I can find that article again. Don't know about the P3 - is it an...

    Weight and length ???

I am assuming that the trailer is 28+ feet long. That is pretty long to be pulling with a 4runner. The reason is the short wheelbase of your Toyota. It is about 110 inches compared to a full size 1/2 ton pickup which is around 145 inches. In my experience, the wheelbase affects the towing...

Add Inverter & batteries to 3914... comments?

I don't see any problem as long as you isolate the generator output from the circuit when you have the inverter switch activated. You don't want to backfeed current into the generator output. A DPDT switch would accomplish both at the same time.

    Who would ever thought this

I have lived through hurricanes Camille and Katrina. Saw a few other amazing things in 64 years, but I think this one may take the cake. I wonder what Al Gore thinks of this. http://www.theledger.com/article/20100114/NEWS/100119871?Title=Miami-Man-Dies-of-Hypothermia

    Rear Hitch

I started a thread about this very issue a couple weeks ago in the "camping products" section. I have considered all the alternatives and have decided that the rear bicycle rack is the way I want to go. Now I just have to find a welder to fab me one up. The Swagman XC 2 is the rack I plan on...

    Kingpin Tripods

SLJKansas (Steve) I think the secret to the scissor jacks is to take some of the weight off the axle springs so they cannot flex downward when walking around in the coach. I try to raise the frame about 1 inch with the jacks. To accomplish this, they have to be placed very near the axles. I have...

    Kingpin Tripods

I also have a tri-pod (galv. steel/heavy) for free if anyone is interested and in the area. We used it a few times and did not notice a great difference. It's been stored in the shop for over 3 years. I now use a couple of scissor jacks placed under the frame just in front of the front axle...

    Driving in wind

We got in some 50 MPH gusts last April between Big Bend NP and Fort Stockton. This is my worst towing experience to date. Even the white-out for 40 miles in the Bighorn Mountains south of Custer Battlefield was not as bad. I will never attempt that again. If at all possible stay put until the...

    Big Easy

No, this has nothing to do with New Orleans. It is the Char-Broil "Oil-less" turkey fryer. But it is for cooking a lot more than just turkeys. Glenda presented me with one of these as an early Christmas gift before Thanksgiving. I roasted a couple of chickens just to get the hang of the thing...

    Mountain travel

Of all the accessories on the truck the two I absolutely cannot do without is the Prodigy controller and PacBrake exhaust brake. The PacBrake is BY FAR the best money I have spent. Bicycle ladder rack

Thanks for all the great info. From your replies I think it's safe to rule out any ladder mounting schemes. We have the Trailair pinbox so don't know if the pin mount will work. The Bighorn has the electric rear stabilizers which is mounted to the very rear of the frame. This makes mounting a...
