anyone have to have a shade restrung?

When we brought the big shade from the back window in the house and got the top rail off off it I could see where it had broke. It was between the top and the left side hole. I think I could have spliced or tied a piece of fish line between the two pieces of string and saved having to restring...

anyone have to have a shade restrung?

We did 2 off them last weekend, a little one and the big rear window. There are several treads if you do a search, I read them all, printed diagrams and did a computer search and there was a demo to watch. The restringing wasn't bad as I had a diagram to follow. I messed up and didn't cut my...

ATF: Bighorn - Bighorn 3185RL Left side Slide-out

We have the same unit you do, I just looked and no rippling, but we don't travel with it very much. I decided to reply to this post because we found a bracket laying on the ground on both sides when we closed the slides to close up our seasonal site. They had rusted and just dropped off. Our...

We just restrung two of our shades, ugg. The first was a little one, the second was the big rear window. What a job. The screws were difficult to find as other had told us, two were in such a way couldn't just screw them out. I don't think we could have done it in the 5er, waited till we...

    PowerKing Tow Max Tires (Dynamic Tire Corp}

I have been following this debate since we brought our Bighorn home in July 2010. The first tread I read about the failures I went outside and looked at the tires, sure enough they were Towmax. We haven't changed them yet but will be before heading to Fl. this Jan. We have about 5000 miles on...

Day night shade broke, now what ?

This may be a option for us also, I will look next weekend. We never use the day shade. We had mini blinds in our previous 5er, they were a real pain to clean but never had to repair them. I saw a new Big Country after we bought our Big Horn that had wide wooden blinds, I liked them. The...

Day night shade broke, now what ?

Thank You everyone for your replies. We looked briefly at the blind before we left the lake Sunday. Bill said he could see screws. I will get the string and on a quiet peaceful (maybe rainy)day we will attack it. In the mean time the window looks like tobacco road.

Ventured into the satellite world and so far a bit disappointed

We have had dish and directv and I think dish is more RV friendly. We changed to dish last year giving up cable and had directv ( many years) at our campsite 6 months a year. We purchaced a 211 reciever to keep in the camper so we wouldn't need to keep moving it. We went to Fl. for 6 weeks...

We have the 3185 and are very happy with it. We put a 2" memory foam topper on the mattress, the bottom sheet(fitted with deep pockets) would not stay under the mattress. Replacing Hard BEd... Help!

We also have a 2" memory foam topper. The 2011 Big Horn has a pillow top mattress so maybe it would have been OK but we had this in the previous 5er and brought it over to this one. Our first 5er the bed was so hard went to Walmart the very next day and bought a foam topper for it. Either the...

    dining table comfort

I like the booth because I like to sit in the middle when sitting at the table. Our last 5er had table and chairs. If the Landmark table and chair set up was a option and I had known about it may have went that route when we ordered. Yes it is roomy for the 2 of us, tight when someone else...

How do you give up most of your worldly possessions and go full time ?

Today I was going though a box of old photos, didn't throw away any, just looked at them. I got thinking about what it would take to go full time. We are not ready for that now but when we bought this rig we used that as a bargaining chip to justify buying it. All my collections, figurines...

    Water collecting over slide covers

Bill (husband) thinks he may bring the slides in when we leave every week. If we leave them out and it rains and then dries it stains. He has to go up on roof and scrub it. Maybe we will get 6" drain pile for all of them. We have one and that wasn't a perfect solution but helped.
