Quick ideas that work for me:
1) suction cup hooks: with a dowel rod they can hold flags for tailgating or damp clothes for drying, without a dowel rod they can hold keys, leashes, flashlights, and so forth
2) magnetic paper towel holders (found in many home improvement stores near the big tool boxes). We have one on the outside fridge and one inside on the oven vent hood.
