2012 Cyclone model 4014 Mystery Crack in the outer wall fiberglass

A crack / rupture has developed in the lower front corner of my bedroom / bed slide, forward on the driver's side. It is nearly identical with where my tailgate is on my truck. I checked - there was no impact between the top of the top of the truck bed and the bottom of the trailer. I called my selling dealer, Leo's in Gambrills, MD, and can't get in until mid-October. All the related posts I find seem to point to a frame issue. The links below are the pictures. These were sent to Heartland for input as well.

The only corrective action I've taken today is to cover the openings with stylish blue duct tape.

How does the other side of the camper look? I when hooking and unhooking from the truck is there any flex? I would be affraid that a weld broke free on that side of the camper allowing flex in the pin box.

That is a lot of flex to buckle it that much in such a short distance....I also would worry about frame breakage and would not haul anywhere until issue is deciphered.

As fast cars mentioned, what happens in that area as the pin drops onto the hitch when hooking up? Any movement?

I wouldn't bother with LEO's for that type of repair. Call Heartland first thing today. You will need to send them these pictures and they will send you a frame flex sheet. It is possible that you have had the aluminum tubes in the wall break. My camper doesn't look like that but my wall is moving and I'm due to go in for repairs in November.

Where are you located in MD. There is a guy local down here in Calvert that just replaced the Dometic Living room unit on mine under extended warranty. He does some extensive work and may be able to help. He is also mobile but don't know how far he travels.

I'm not familiar with the structure under the skin. I initially thought "frame" and the other item that was mentioned was "aluminum tubes." Do the aluminum tubes run vertical or horizontal? Doesn't Lippert make all the steel chassies? Any structure added is Heartland? Thanks to all for the constructive comments! I'm in The Northeast corner of Maryland, right off of I-95, in Bel Air.

Here's so pics from the factory of a BigHorn, but the construction methods are probably the same.

This was certainly not dropped on anything. This is a flex issue resulting from poor structure design. Added welding and gussets in the pin box area. Very common in fifth wheels. BEST bet is to make sure after the repairs your not overloaded. And hopefully before you go in for a claim you unload and go across the scale to insure that you are under weight
