We have gone almost every year since the early 90's. We usually stay a Furnace Creek, No reservations, first come first served. Although we have also stayed at Stovepipe wells. There is a private cg at Stovepipe, with hookups, as well as the N.P. campground.
It's a fun low key relaxing week. I like the desert. It is a desolate beauty. Death Valley is a very interesting place. Weather is usually great in November.
We camp at Sunset which is dry camping, but they have restrooms, water, dump station etc. It's a national park so the campgrounds are basic.
There is a store, several restaurants, post office, gas station (with diesel) etc. We usually have the use of the pool at the Furnace Creek Ranch Inn.
There are usually cowboy themed entertainment groups, like Chapparal, Dave Stamey etc. (Im not a huge cowboy guy, but it's fun for a week.)
A lot of sightseeing, hiking to be had in the park.
As far as cost, it's cheap. I think spots last year were only like $12 per day
You are only about 1 hr from Pahrump and Walmart, shopping etc. 1 1/2 hrs. from Vegas.
We are going this year. We plan to get there on Sunday Nov. 6.
