6.4L - Sounds like a Helicopter

I have had a '06 6.0L and my current '08 6.4L and have not had a problem out of either. I agree with the fan noise but look how much radiator it's cooling on the 6.4L. I just can imagine the new 6.7L. My Chevy buds always rag me but none have been willing to hook up a chain between my truck and theirs. As long as they are American owned and made I support them.

Have any of you with the 6.4L Ford F-350, had any complaints with the fuel milage in the break in stage in the motor. I had a 2003 6L c/w 265000km. My wife and I used it to grab my new truck. I was driving my new one & her in the old one. We raced each other up a hill. She ended up beating me by 3 truck lengths. I never really seen a great differance in fuel milage or performance until about 37000km. After I had 53000 km, it woke right up and ended up averaging approx 18.5 miles/gallon. The power now is great as well.

Heck I would have a heart attack if my 6.0 got 18.5 mpg, doesn't even get that running it on it's own at 65 mph

'08 6.4L now has 31,000 on the odometer. The fan was running fairly often going the the Black Hills and 90+ degrees a couple weeks ago. Temps were normal on the gauges. Averaging 10.0-10.5 mpg towing and ~13 mpg without the RV. The DPF is really killing the mileage.

I agree re: DPF.You can watch it drop when it regens. My '03 6.0l got 19-20mpg hwy empty and 15-16 combo with 9-10 towing hwy. My 6.4 has 22k and I only get 13-15 combo (empty)and 9.5-10 towing when I keep it between 60-65mph. I added a free flow filter in the factory box and 4" pipe from the dpf back.

Not to start a war But what u boys gonna do when urea comes on line with the new 2010 trucks along with DPF. Ill keep my crummy 2006 6.0 ford. Well really i wish i had my 2000 ford 7.3 back, but those days are gone.

What is 'urea'?...i may get a diesel someday but for now my stock V-10 gasser can pass any stock diesel up a long uphill grade.
