ATF: Big Country - Hot Water Heater

Hot water heater stopped working. Mobile repairman came, said the diode was bad replaced it. Had hotwater for day or two, then no hotwater. Replaced diode with new one, no hot water, replaced that one with a new on, still no hot water. No hot water electric or gas. Mobile repair man now won't return calls. I am willing to repair it myself, if I had a clue where to start.

I never heard of a diode in the circuit for the water heater, so I don't know what part you replaced.

If you have a Suburban unit, we have a Water Heater Troubleshooting Guide that can help. It focuses mostly on the electric operation.

Be advised that on the Suburban Water heater model SW12DEL there is a water heater mounted 12 volt relay.
The "L" designation in DEL is for that relay.
Relay #232948 fits Suburban model numbers SW6DEL, SW10DEL & SW12DEL water heaters, this relay is available new on eBay for $9.90, free shipping.
I troubleshot mine, and have seen nothing about a diode.
Trouble shooting tips need to be updated for these newer water heaters.
I don't know how that is done.
