ATF: Cyclone - garage heat

I am having trouble heating the 12' garage area. The duct will not produce any airflow. any one have any ideas on how to get this resolved? Or has any one else had this problem who has come up with their own remidy

Hi dm-soundman,

If you are actually getting zero airflow, the ducts will need to be inspected to eliminate pinch points or other things that might be obstructing airflow.

If you mean the airflow is poor and the air is luke warm, that's pretty much typical. It's quite a long run from furnace to garage. Many people put portable heaters in the garage to supplement.

If you do get a portable heater, a ceramic disc heater is a good choice. Make sure you get one that has tip over protection. The Classic Pelonis works very well, has tip over protection, and has a smart thermostat that reduces power consumption.

Do a search here and you will find a number of discussions about heat in the garage of the Cyclone or lack there of. Many suggestions are good IF you have shore power. If you are dry camping about the only solution is a Big Buddy heater or something similar. The ducting run is just too long from the furnace to the garage and the garage is basically uninsulated.

I do find it a little more than interesting that Heartland puts bunks in the garage and then does not insulate or provide adequate heating.

More disturbing to me is that after all the discussions of this issue, that they do not seem interested in rectifying the inadequacy.

Aside from a ceramic heater (which we also use in garage), I suggest either electric blankets or heated mattress pads. That way you can keep sleepers warm without blasting heat all night long. I have a small (and silent) electric fan that I put near the doorway to "push" the warmer kitchen air into the garage. Works great.
