B&W BWRVK3300 hitch with Cyclone 4005 - ok?

Hi there,

I would like to know if B&W hitch is good for towing cyclone 4005.
The rating of the hitch is 20k lbs and the GWVR of the 4005 is 20k lbs.
Wonder if this combination has margin for safety.
The truck is 2017 F350 with factory pucks.

Hello DieselVapor and welcome to this great forum.
If the GVWR is 20K and the hitch is rated at 20K then you should be okay, however most here would like some extra wiggle room.
If you have not yet purchased the hitch then opt for a higher rating. If you already own the hitch then go with it.
Just my opinion.
Also consider joining the Heartland Owners Club. It's free and easy.

Peace
Dave

Welcome to the Forum!
I'm using the 20K B&W with our Cyclone 4150 with no issues.

I guess as a woman I always error on the side of caution. Go with alittle larger Maybe a 24.

Just like people that ask will my so & so TV pull this certain weight of trailer.

This is what can happen without the correct setup and getting your self into a bad situation

Thankfully no one was hurt..

Not ours..
This happened not to far from where we are staying by the Salton Sea in CA.
From our understanding it was the 1st time out. The light changed and he couldn't stop..
This was the setup before the accident

Ouch! Definitely looks like the truck was not properly matched to the weight of the trailer.

I just watched a video on this incident,it was the recovery process. The truck was a 2017 Ford F 250 short box.
The 5th wheel was ripped out of the box, rear rail completely torn out of box and front rail bent like a boomerang. Both rails had no center bolts installed,System was not a puck set up.Unit had traditional rails.
Truck had rear suspension completely torn off the frame, unit a right off.

Had a B&W in my last truck, went with a Curt Q25 in my new one. The Q25 is rated at 24K in the Ford puck system. So far, very pleased with the hitch. Like that it has 360 degrees of head articualtion, verses the front to back and side to side only of the B&W. Breaks down into 2 pieces to pull out of the bed.

As far as the accident, the driver of the toy hauler said the light changed from yellow to red in less than 2 seconds and he ran it. A car pulled out and hit him in the bed causing the truck roll. Said it was totally his fault.
