Battery disconnect switch

Do the Bighorn Rvs specifically the 3270 have a battery disconnect switch that is a complete disconnect?

99.999% sure it will have the battery disconnect installed from factory.

It will cut power to everything except trailer brakes. That needs to always have power.

Thanks,

I'm thinking of it for storage purposes. Wouldn't need brakes then and if I understand correctly there are some other small parasitic losses like carbon monoxide sensors etc.

Brake controller won't pull any amp during storage...ok there.

The other items will all be turned off with the switch turned off.

There should be no parasitic drains on the battery once the cutoff switch(es) are OFF.

As mentioned, the trailer brake emergency breakaway circuit is still powered but until the cable is pulled, no power is consumed.

If you have a generator, the power for the starter may be in front of the cutoff, but won't pull any power unless you're trying to start the generator.

And the circuit that goes to the tow vehicle may also be in front of the cutoff switch, but normally pulls power from the tow vehicle and the circuit is open when the trailer is disconnected from the tow vehicle.

If a person were to put a trailer in storage, wouldn't it be a good idea to remove the breakaway cable/plug so it doesn't get legs? I can only imagine going to pick up the Rv and find some one has taken your breakaway cable.
just my thought.

I've never heard of a breakaway cable growing legs, and I don't know why anyone would want to steal one. It's not an expensive part.

If someone pulled it, your brakes would be actuated until either the switch melted, or the battery died. The brake assemblies would probably be damaged too.

To prevent this, you'd have to actually disconnect the plus cable from the battery.

But the only time I've heard of this happening is when an owner pulled the cable, thinking that would be part of putting the trailer into storage.

And we never thought we'd see people playing paintball around aircraft parked in the tie downs at a fenced airport either. Some people just gotta get their kicks. I guess I've seen too much vandalism done in the name of fun.

But thanks for your replies and thoughts. I appreciate them.

Just tuck it in with the umbilical cord in the king pin. Out of sight...Out of Mind.

Im sorry to say this, please take no offense, but you have more faith in mankind than I.

Dave,

If it's a serious concern, I'd suggest when in storage you remove the batteries, breakaway cable, TVs, and anything else you might be concerned about losing. Then leave the storage compartments unlocked so someone doesn't come along and break the locks for you.

Or find a better place to store the rig.
