We have a 2018 Heartland Mallard M33, what battery do we need? I cannot find anything in the book. The one that is in there is a marine battery, so I think my husband changed it for some reason.

Marine batteries are typically deep cycle batteries. RVs use a deep cycle battery
So if your marine battery is a deep cycle battery you are good to go.

If possible upon replacement, go to a regular battery place (Interstate comes to mind) for replacement. UNLESS you know for sure: say Wal-Mart carries deep cycle batteries. Get same one as you had.

Yes, we need to replace it so I wanted to make sure to get the proper battery.

Your battery should be fine. However, I would replace it with a LiPo Battery. They are lighter, last longer, you can drain them to 0% without harming them. Only down side it they are more expensive. Do your research and chooses what works for you!

As I have understood the terminology over the years a "marine" battery is an engineering compromise, and neither completely a deep cycle battery (See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep-cycle_battery), or a "starting" battery ( See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_battery ). It is designed to provide the high current pulse to start a marine internal combustion engine (usually gasoline outboard) AND the longer discharge curve needed by an electric marine trolling (slow fishing) motor. The long time usual recommendation for an RV "house" battery is a true 100% Deep Discharge battery which can be deep discharged ( like living off the grid) about twice as many times as a starting battery without causing battery failure.

BTW, true deep discharge batteries have been the lead acid batteries of choice in solar systems for over 20 years.

You want a battery group number with a size that will fit your existing battery boxes. The standard is a group 24, although I have been able to use a larger capacity group 27 in a group 24 box.

Doing a websearch, I noted that many of these batteries are available on Amazon, with FREE delivery (these suckers are HEAVY!!) for Prime members.
