Purchased a New Big Horn Traveler 39MB, custom ordered because I wanted dual pane windows and slide toppers.
Picked up in Ohio.
Issues are as follows.
Switches wired backwards or installed backwards.
Broken wires on inverter switch
Kitchen slide fell out of camper ( fell off rollers and damaged trim on bottom of slide)( And no it did not fall on the ground)
Main floor not screwed into floor joist, Island rocks and lifts floor and moves when walking across floor.
Plumbing leak flooded basement
Bedroom dresser in wrong place interferes with blind which in not centered on widow
Hall blinds and valances not centered on windows
Bathroom door not installed correctly and damaged from rubbing on striker
Bedroom sliding closets lower guide installed incorrectly and doors are damaged
Dining room table all scratched and when the leaf was extended it fell apart and cant be fixed
Front material under bedroom around pin box not fastened and is falling down
AC duct in bunk room not connected, flows no air
Electric portion of hot water heater doesn't work, has power
Gas leak in propane locker on passenger side has leak
Some trim pieces were not lined up well and need to be repaired.

This particular unit feels like a blind man put it together. LoL, but its not funny.:(

Wanted to take it back to the factory that was less then a hundred miles from the deal and was told NO, and that they would have someone fix all items.
Decided to take unit and not wait for a second unit, since I was planing on living in it for the next six to ten months and didn't want to rent a house or stay in a hotel.
Left the dealer with it and when I got several hundred miles away, opened up slide to find the floor gouged and rubbed from the dining slide.:(

The dealer I purchased it from told me they couldn't start repairs for three weeks and a couple of places down in Florida that I have called told me they are three months out. It was recommended that I hire a mobile tech to come out and fix the items but I would have to pay for a service call........:(

To be honest, there is no way I would ever recommend Heartland at this point. When I talked to the warranty department, there attitude is I could just walk from their unit and it really didn't matter to them.......It was like Oh well! WOW!
I was looking at a situation of basically being homeless if I didn't take it.

Last but not least, I purchased a Reese Goosebox to tow it with and that is defective as well, won't hold air, I talked to Reese and was told that a bunch of units went out with the bolts that hold the airbag in were to long and broke through the bags on assemble, so now I'm dealing with that as well.

Forgot to mention that I also got my first flat in Florida as well.

So my situation is WHAT NEXT IS GOING TO HAPPEN? AND AINT LIFE GRAND!

So all new purchasers should double check the floors in your units and make sure they are screwed down.
And don't buy a unit built on a Friday before a three day weekend, or by a blind team of workers.......

Happy travels to all.

Sorry to hear that. Mine has had its share of issues (blinds, trim, bedroom door, etc) but nothing like a slide falling out.

Curious here, when you say that your slide fell out did it land on the ground next to the camper?
I have seen a couple of slides that extended a little too far and fell off the rollers but that was an easy fix.

Peace

You are correct, I did say came off the rollers and damaged the trim along the bottom.

It's hard for me to visualize how a slide falls out and onto the ground. The slide box is attached to the hydraulic rams, or to cables/chains.

Did you take any pictures? Maybe there's something in a picture that might help others avoid a similar outcome.

Also, wondering how you lift a slide room off the ground and place it back into the RV. How was that done? Or is it still on the ground?

On edit, I see that the OP has edited the 1st post to say that the slide did not fall out onto the ground. So now I have no idea what is meant by "fell out of camper".

I added that it did not fall on the ground and clarified the trim damage. When it went out, you could see daylight under the slide and the trim was pulled off at the bottom........I realize it came off the rollers. For all intensive purposes, it came out and wouldn't go back in without a jack and a lot of work.

Funny how everyone is interested in the slide which doesn't really concern me. My biggest issue is the floor not being fastened, and the blind inspector who signed off on it as ready to ship, his name is Jerry. I want to hire him;).

It may not be that the floor is not fastened as the floor is a one piece OSB laminated to foam and another sheet of ply.
I've had a softish area of floor for that past seven years and finally decided to look into it. My suspicions were confirmed that in order to run some plumbing they had to cut out an area of the foam to make the pipes fit. That left the OSB to be the only thing supporting. The cutout area was framed with 2x3's however.
I did add some glued and screwed plywood to help, and it did.
You, or someone will have to drop the coroplast to see if that is the case in your rig.
This pic may give an idea of what to look for.

Thanks for the pic. If you push on the island it moves about 4-6 inches at the counter and the floor lifts about two to three feet away from the base of the cabinet.

WOW

Every once in a great while you read about some major "can't believe it left the lot" stories. Take it back. It will be cheaper to rent a house for the time being. Or rent another RV.

I really doubt that rig will _ever_ be right. Take it back. Get your money back. Talk to a rep and see if you want to re-order one or if something else (other brand even) is a better choice.

It's very hard to find a dealer that will be able to get it in the shop and repaired in a reasonable time. Even if they say "no problem", you will be 6-10 months out before it's close to being done. Same for a mobile tech, they will be more responsive, but dealing with warranty parts availability will limit how much they can fix for you.

I'm sorry this rig was provided in the condition it was.

Despite being from FL and driving to OH to get it, OP should not have taken unit off the lot let alone hand over final payment if all problems were found during a PDI. We've only bought 2 RV's and we went thru them top to bottom before taking delivery. Easier to say no than take home w/problems and try to get fixed later. Plus taking unit w/ lots of problems leaves a sour taste that lasts for a long time. Fully understand OP's need to have a place to stay in, but no sense in yanking a $100,000.00 rig around if loaded w/problems--let alone taking it knowing of the problems.
