I followed the plans from www.myrv.us on building a 50 amp service tester and even though it cost me a little more money than I thought it would ($65), it works great and it's easy to build. It tests everything on a 50 amp service...open grounds, hot neutral, voltage, "true" 50 amp service, both legs of the circuit, etc. If you want to build one, or want more information, here's the link:
