Dump Hose

We just started looking at 5th wheels as our next RV. Focusing on the 365 Newport for the time being. Hope to be able to see one in person in a couple of weeks at the local dealer.

Traveled full time in an Airstream for a year a while back, but this time around we are now needing a bit more room. I am sure I will have lots of questions as we move along but for now, where are you folks putting the sewer hose when you are under way. I am used to having a hollow rear bumper for that purpose but that is not the case with the RV's we have been looking at and I keep forgetting to ask at the dealers we have visited.

Thanks,
Jim and Elaine

Hi Jim and Elaine,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and hopefully to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Lots of folks make a storage tube and attache it under the frame. Some have used the 4" pvc pipe or 4" square plastic post that are avaliable at HomeDepot and Lowes or just about any of the larger lumber stores. I myself use a deep plastic container for all fittings and hoses.

I'm sure you will get lots of more suggestions.

Enjoy the forum

I keep a spare hose in the tube that's attached under the front of the trailer. The main hose and all fittings I also keep in a storage bin with a lid. The sewer hose I am using has 4 bayonet type attaching points and is a very tight fit in the tube under the trailer. Plus I still have to store the fittings that go into the ground connection so I might as well keep it all together. By the way, we have the 3950FB which is the Big Country version of the Newport.

Heartland has a tube that mounts along the frame. If it's not standard, I'm sure your dealer could order you one.

I use a large tote with lid in my storage space for all of my sewer stuff. In fact. after being in a space where the sewer connection was 15 feet behind the end of the trailer, I have a permanently coupled double length sewer hose, along with my rubber gloves, catch basin, and hose end adapter.

The Landmark 365 has a very nice large storage tube under the front of the coach near the basement area. I just ordered another one so I will have 2 1 for the main hose and 1 for the 15' extension hose. Ordered from Heartland for around $36.00

Thanks for the welcome and all of the quick replies.

I had thought they must have provided an area. Like I said it is one of the questions that I forgot to ask when we were looking. Have to make better lists.

Back in olden times, when our 2009 BH was built, they had a small storage compartment on the side, under the furnace where you could store the hose. After cleaning my 15 ft. RhinoFlex hose and collapsing it, I can fit it and a 10ft. extension in there. At our seasonal site, I only need the 15ft. section partially extended, so the extension stays in the compartment. All the extra fittings I have are in a clear tote.

Another type of hose is the Sewer Solution system. It's a bit pricey, but does not take up as much space as the standard type and is much sturdier. Needs a water flow from an external hose to operate (like a macerator), but it will push waste up an incline where the stinky slinkies can't. Something to look into at least.

Mine came with one tube and I ordered a second one from Heartland and installed it next to the factory installed one.

Jerrod, at the time I was not going to pay $100 at CW for tube. $20 at Lowes for a plastic fence tube, 2 post caps, 1 used Igloo hinge and fastener (had an old cooler) 2 scrap aluminum straps and I was set. BTW I copied from one made By Kenny (Katkens). I use for my flag pole and fold up ladder.

If you are an HOC member then the tubes from Heartland Parts (pictured in my earlier post) are 27 bucks, open at either end, and have lockable latches at each end. They come ready to install. All you need are four self tapping screws and a means to drive the screws in.

Mike,,, did the $27 include shipping?

Jim M

Jim, I think the shipping was 4 dollars more. I'm in Carthage right now, but I keep the receipts for every thing I buy for the trailer so I will look it up when I get home.
