elkridge folding range cover

neighbors bought a new elkridge it has a suburban 3 burner range with the 2 piece folding glass range cover . How does the cover stay up it seems to me it is hinged backwards cause it will only fold up in middle with front glass folding down but when this happens it doesn't clear rear burners . It won't stay up unless rested on range due to weight of glass. If folded front glass on top of back glass weight of glass would fold back and should hold top up and back . Which is the correct way ?

It should accordion up... so the back half is straight up - or leaning back to the wall, and the front drops down and folds back - clearing the back burners.... Our's has a "J" in the hinge connection - maybe you need to look at that back hinge point and make sure it's sitting in there correctly??

The second picture looks a LOT different than our metal range cover... looks like it 'rolls' back?
