Hello--this may not be in the correct category?
I have a 2005 Chev, 3500 dually. I am thinking about installing an exhaust brake. What experience has anyone had doing this, pros/cons, type, mfg, who installed? dealer or truck vendor, where should I look to get it installed. Happy with your decision? Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Hello! My only experience with exhaust brakes was with our previous Dodge CTD. It was equipped with a US Gear brake that worked quite well! When we got the Chevy D/A, the Allison transmission tow/haul worked so well that I never added additional options to the Silverado.

Lots of information about GM exhaust brakes at The Diesel Place.

Now for the real reason I replied to your post :D... if you are in Graham, WA now, you could make it to our HOC WA Chapter Rally next weekend in Anacortes! Consider this a personal invitation!

Best Wishes!

The first thing I did when I bought my 01 Dodge was have a Jacobs E-brake installed by an independent Cummins dealer. It's been 10 years and 125,000 miles and has been basically maintenance free. IMO it is worth every penny.

I have a PacBrake PRXB on my 2003 Duramax and it is worth every single penny. Had it dealer installed at a diesel shop. I can go down any hill up to a 8% grade with my 11000 lb loaded trailer and not touch my brake pedal. It takes the vast majority of the stress out of mountain traveling, and the rest of the time it just saves your truck brakes.

I have a "Banksbrake", Jacobs type brake, installed by Banks. It's the best single addition I have made to my TV. Highly recommend it. Takes the white knuckling out of steep grades and really saves the brakes on the TV and RIG.

Anybody know the difference, if any, between the PacBrake and the BanksBrake? I assume they are both just exhaust brakes with butterfly valves in the exhaust stream?

think that banks is vacuum operated and Pac is pressure. Comes with air compressor that can be used for other application and devices. Could be wrong.
