Brought our 2013 into to have bearings/breaks checked. First time after leaving the factory. Evidently I received my money's worth of grease. Amazing how well it stops now.

Randy it's my understanding that the axles and hubs come assembled. I suspect that someone besides the manufacturer along the line attempted to grease your bearings with an air operated gun and didn't follow proper procedure causing a blowout past the seal. Has it been in to a dealer/shop for any kind of service previously???

No this was the first time being serviced since new. Always thought it didn't stop the way it should have and have had to use 10 on the gain control.

Had just been reading horror stories on the forum about bearings and decided to have it checked out.

Dexter had a rash of "over-lubed" bearings a while back.
Call them up (574) 295-7888 with the numbers on the axle sticker and VIN and manufacture date of your rig and you'll likely get a completely new backing plate and brake assembly in a couple days.
I'm not sure how much trust I'd put in grease soaked brake shoes even though I'm sure you spent a lot of time cleaning them.

Thanks for the info will give them a call tomorrow.

Moved on to the next thing...
It is possible that the wheel bearing got hot, which caused the grease to do this to your brake assembly.

When we had our wheel bearing blowout in Phoenix this past January, there was grease everywhere!

Destroyed the spindle and brake assembly.

Both axles and spring sets are being replaced probably next week (depending on when the new axles arrive at the repair shop), and while I'm at it will have all four wheel bearings replaced, even though the one was just replaced in Phoenix, and the other three checked out OK.

All five wheels and tires are being upgraded as well.

Mine looked the same way. I cleaned them the best i could. At the Rally in Goshen in 2013 I spoke with a Dexter rep. He said to call the factory. Dexter replaced all 4 brakes with new backing plates. They said they had several that were over greased.

Don are you saying they were greasing them at the factory via the EZ Lube? I don't see how it would be possible to "over grease" the hub with hand packed bearings.

Thanks for the Dexter information. Spoke with them this am and sent photos. They are shipping four new assembly's out no charge. I'm responsible for labor to install which is more than fair to me.

I don't know how the grease got in there. Dexter admitted it was there fault and replaced all 4 brake assemblies.

Glad it worked out for you Randy! Dexter has been very easy to work with on the 2 occasions I've needed help.
