Hi bellpr,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and hopefully to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Lots of folks are going with the front bath plans it seems. Gives for more room and closet area it looks like. I'm sure you will get more opinions from our other members soon.

Enjoy the forum and shopping.

Howdy!

I would rcommend looking closely at any floor plan as how the tub/shower is designed. We found out with our 2014 Cyclone 4000 when we had butb/shower problems that it was installed and the walls built around it. It can not be repaired are removed with out major work being done. We will look very closely at the total design with any RV in the future.

Please expand on your statement. How exactly is it constructed? How much would it take if one wanted to remove the shower and install a same size tub and surround? (Such as a Kohler Greek.)

To answer the original post, there are quite a few with front bath floorplans that frequent the forum, I am sure they can chime in. But so far, I have not heard any real complaints about the plan. It's a front-runner plan for us as well. My concern was getting to the front bath while traveling (because we like the office in-place-of the 2nd downstairs 1/2 bath). I understand that there is a control to move the bedroom slide on its own for all of the front bath models (Landmark, Bighorn, BigCountry), so to move it a foot or so to get by the front of the bed should not be an issue.

Some have said with the king bed there is not much room to get around the sides of the bed. Some have opted to go with a queen bed instead. This can be ordered from the factory, or some have modified the bed platform and added their own queen mattress. From the factory, an added built-in nightstand might be available for the queen version.

Some have mentioned that they had some slight plumbing issues of slow drains in the early versions of the front bath. I have not heard many complaints recently. Note though, if you have the 1/2 bath downstairs, there is a separate dump handle for it, not in the universal docking station. This may mean bending down and reaching under the skirting to get to it.

Whatever you are looking at, Heartland products are the way to go! Great support from the company and this forum is here to help if you have any glitches.

We have the Big Country front bath. Our biggest issue was the limited walk around room with the king bed. We fixed that by replacing with a queen mattress and cutting the platform down appropriately.

The bedroom slide is on a separate switch and can be extended to gain access to the bathroom, though we will typically just climb over the bed if needed. We have the half bath and love it at rest stops.

The rear (kitchen and half bath sink) gray tank pull is on the frame instead of in the UDC. There is an access panel in the skirting that you can reach through, though.

Most of the longer FB models can be pin heavy. Maybe close to 4K. I think most have a GVW of at least 16500# The LM are more (18K). With any of those models, you should be using later model 1tn DRW truck. When you go looking, check the GVW on the yellow sticker on the entry door frame.

We have the front-bath Landmark Newport. So far we have not had an issue pushing the bedroom slide out a couple inches to get to the bathroom while traveling. It's a separate button so, not a problem. As others have mentioned we opted for the queen bed to give us more room on both sides of the bed. The only disadvantage is that if you have someone staying over, they would have to walk through your bedroom to get to the bathroom, but we haven't had that problem because of our "entertain 6, eat 4, sleep 2" policy (we also opted for the office vs the half bath).
